You get 3 character slots, but I just can't think of a use for the other 2. Is there any reason to have multiple characters?

Hmm, I'd personally think some people may find a use for the others, such as someone may just casually play on one account with their friends and be part of a roleplaying corp or something on the other.
So they don't get caught up with things.
Although I don't know if there are any limitations on them so if I'm probably wrong somewhere with my view

Alts (as secondary chars are usually called) are widly used as spies. --- All my statements are my personal opinion. I am not speaking on behalf of any entity, corp or alliance in this forums. |

Can't you only train one skill at a time between all three character?
It would seem to be a better use of your time to just use the one character and train all the skills (because you only need to train the learning skills once instead of three times).

Although that's true, using an alt has its advantages. For example, you could use one in a suicide Kestrel to hit macro barges in hi-sec. By using the alt, your main will not experience the nagging problem of sec hits. |

Another example (from my own account);
1) Main (Ras) 2) Builder (bought for isk) 3) Noob Corp Scout (used her mostly to check my 0.0 entrance when I was in an alliance, and pick up stuff in times of war)
