A bit of a vague question, I know, but since I am taking more of an interest in all things minmatar... the Nidhoggur, what is it good for? |

It's got pretty good scan res and the bonus to both shield and armor can come in handy on occasion. But really that doesn't matter much since it's best used for repping a POS.

Baiting on station. With such a crummy reputation people will get all frothy at the mouth and ignore the local spike. (NB, may result in supercapital hotdrops). YOLO is the Carpe Diem of Gen Y http://www.localectomy.blogspot.com.au

its great for small gang fights, i had a dual carrier once with a nidh and my thanny, against a similar fleet with dual chimera. Switching between triage fittings and what not, we finished by ruling out.
I dont know why people say the nidh is not a good carrier, carriers are only has good has the pilots in them and the fleet supporting them.
Everything is not described on paper, has an example a fleet that looks petty might finish by winning because people feel over confident while fighting them and all the ends up making you pay less attention. Something has to be said about using less popular ships, it gets you more fights. And cheaper enemy's. |

Nidd is not bad, but it's not as specialized as the other carriers. Also, as you noted: it doesn't fit as well into bigger fleets. As such it doesn't fit into 0.0 fleet doctrines afaik.
So basically, it's like the Typhoon of old (3-4 years ago): split bonuses, which you can never use to 100%.
You want to shield RR ? you can do it, but you won't fit into the cap chain of a larger fleet. You want armor RR ? you can do that aswell. but again, you're not part of the cap chain. You want shield and armor RR ? Now you're doing exactly what the ship is bonused for, but you'll be much less efficient than the 3 other races, and still no cap chain.
It's like flying a cross between a Basilisk and a Guardian, but without cap transfer.
Also, can someone explain what this thread is about?-á (Relax ! I'm just quoting Holgrak Blacksmith here.)

Non-triage niddys combined with cap-battery Chims make a pretty amazing combo. As I recall, 2 chims can feed 4 Niddys enough cap too be stable with 4 reps running. 5 With talismans. I'm not gonna post the fits, but 3 of them can rep over 10k raw shield HP per second (thats something like %60+ of the total shield HP of a well tanked BS).
It's a niche use, but nidhoggurs are certainly not useless. Unfortunately, due too it's mixed rep bonus, and lackluster tank, it's rather poor in both of the most popular carrier doctrines right now. Triage and slowcat blob. But in certain applications they are quite good. |

Yes i said it, its not for 0.0 non trige 100 mans fleet, i was talking about smaller scale fleets, where its actually fun playing the game where you don't just rep whos broadcasting but also screaming on TS, i am a fan of smaller fleets. Also transfers work when you are close to each other in re fitting range for triage cycle switching and so on. |
