Disclaimer û This is an alt. I have two accounts with one being pirate oriented and one being carebear oriented. I love using both. IÆve seen quite a few threads lately with pirates bashing carebears and vice versa. Some are done in good fun, but sometimes I sense real contempt by one group for the other. I just wanted to say ôI wub all of youö. We need all types of people to make our virtual world go round. Otherwise things would get boring very quickly. Thankfully, the devs know this and realize you are all equally valuable. Frankly I think they do a pretty good job at keeping things balanced for both types of players.
Miners û Without you where would the builders get their minerals? Bless you for having the patience and determination to provide the building blocks of Eve. IÆm a lousy miner and stand in awe of your ability to click and drag for hours while chatting it up with your fellow miners.
Builders û Blessings upon the aspiring Henry FordÆs of Eve! Without you we would have no other choice but to buy everything from NPC vendors. I for one like the fact that most of my equipment was actually crafted by other players. I love how Eve has the best virtual economy online.
Traders û Bless you that are the oil keeping the economy of Eve running smoothly. Without you we would have to go all over the place to find equipment. Is their anything more breathtaking than the sun reflecting off the belly of a Badger II bound for Rens? I know it kinda chokes me up whenever I see our space truckers plying their trade. I think player created courier missions are one of the neatest features I have ever seen in an online game.
Ore Thieves û Blessings upon you the liberators of ore! Despite being misunderstood and degenerated by the mining community you provide a valuable service! You liven things up for the miners by keeping them on their toes and sometimes provide an enjoyable smackfest in local between you and your ôcustomersö. Things can only get more interesting for both the ore liberators and the miners with can flagging.
Gate Campers û Blessings upon the guardians of the gates! You provide two valuable services to Eve by giving players a reason to buy new ships, and by teaching newer players of the wisdom of looking at the ôship kills in the last hourö map filter before flying. Although more akin to a good olÆ fashioned massacre than piracy, a gate camp teaches people to never get complacent about travel.
Belt Pirates û Blessings upon those that follow the black flag! I know I have never felt as much excitement in an online game before as the first time I saw a pirate join me in a low sec asteroid belt, let out a heart ôYarrr!ö and proceeded to introduce me to the wonders of the cloning process. Without you Eve would be a boring mining/economics simulator. You are the spice we need to keep us alert. Without you our efforts would be easy and therefore totally meaningless.
Mission Runners û Errr, ummmm. Nope, I got nothing.
There are other types of players, but you get the idea û A good soup requires many ingredients. I want all types of conflicting and yet complementary career options in Eve to keep things interesting.
CCP û IÆd rather see a one person quit Eve because of losing his ship than two people quitting out of boredom.

So ore thieves get more wub than mission runners eh?
Where'd all those Fleet Tempests come from without us? Huh? Besides missions make PvP affordable
Seriously tho, good post.. When will the EVE community at large realize everyone's a part of the whole. Isn't the moon in the 2nd house yet? And Jupiter aligned with Mars?

No my friend - I wub the mission runners also. They are indeed a valuable and needed part of Eve.
Thanks all for the nice comments.

Let's see, you forgot mercenaries, extorters, corporate thieves (see: Guiding Hand Social Club), the roaming killers (perhaps the foremost here is Burn Eden), and lazy gits who can't be arsed (see: The Corporation [-TC-])
The language filter needs an update. Check Sharks With Frickin' Laser Beams' forum for a good profanity filter |
