hi, im having a bit of a problem with eve online, i installed it on my laptop and wanted to play it while away from home, but the text in the game is messed up for some reason
heres a link to a screenshot of the login screen http://img447.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shot00013hs.jpg
all the text looks like that ingame too, anyone have any idea whats going on and how to fix it? :) (let me know if the link doesnt work and i try to find an alternative place to host it) Ad Infinitum |

mine does that too
a temporary fix is to press esc, change the screen resolution or w/z buffer setting then change it back.
its a real pain in the ass

hmm, those tricks doesnt seem to work for me, i cant get the text any better :/
im using acer aspire 3003LMi and the graphics card is SiS M760GX
i wonder if the problem is with the graphics card then? i didnt originally buy the laptop for gaming purposes though, just to browse the internet and listen some music and watch some videos, but the gaming part is just an added bonus, if i can get it to work :) just wanted to clear this up before someone comments on it.

If the font slider bar still available in settings? Tweak that.

I don't remember, and I can't log in for several days to tell you where it is, if its still there.
Your picture of your fonts looks exactly like the effect I was having when I first played Eve in 2003. There was a font slider in the settings page that you could tweak and this solved the problem for many people. See if there was anyone else who rmembers it.

That looks suspiciously like an non-native resolution for your laptop screen.
All laptops and LCD screens have a native resolution, which unlike CRT monitors, does not allow resizing and multiple resolutions. If you have a 15inch screen, then the native resolution is most likely 1024x768.
Make sure you have matched Eve's ingame resolution your native resolution of the laptop. The manual or manufacturers website will tell you what it is.

Yes I've posted on another thread of this forum. I also have this problem
http://forums.thegardenofkadesh.org/album_showpage.php?full=&pic_id=93
tweaking of texelalign does not help, nor does changing resolution, I think it is something ccp needs to fix, not us. Well different graphics card may help but thats not an option for me and seeing as the problem was not there before, it can be fixed.
Pre exodus text was all readable.
Exodus ment some text such as chat, player bios, and object descriptions which were all in a fancy new text looked bad like all the rmr text does. Some text was not this new font such as attributes, skill tree, market and employment (there was more, but I can't remember)
RMR, all text is fancy and noe is ledgeable, this makes game play of market impossible, reading my wallet impossible, and worst of all, choosing and changing my skills appropriately impossible.
This needs attention soon. A change or even choice of font would help.

the font changing would be a solution though, isnt there any way to change the ingame font? theres a font folder in cache inside eveonline folder, wonder whats it used for? ( ..\eveonline\cache\font )

I think its something to do with mipmap LOD bias but theres no program that can adjust that.. Not even rivatuner :(
Chancing it from settings file dont effect.
Hopefully unwinder make it soon..

My friends gfx is exactly the same. runs a SIS 661fx chipset and its all messed up.
I asked in help channel and got a SIS = CRAP which i totally agree, So i don't reckon these chips are supported.
we tried. drivers. dx. screen res, anything we could think of. Hes still trying now.
Hope someone finds a way cos hes out in the middle of nowhere in Thailand and has been on withdrawls from EVE for 2 months. Game finally arrives and his gfx don't work. Hes got the shakes again now and has no way of changing a gfx card without a very long journey to a city or something like that

I doubt any kind of driver fiddling will get Eve working. SiS are notorious for producing poor graphics systems backed up by even poorer drivers. Add to that the fact that the 760GX's integrated grapghics core is below Eve's minimum requirements and it's amazing the thing ever worked at all.

I got the same problem and Im using a Geforce 420 Go I had this problem before to, but I think they fixed it Im not sure since I dont use this comp much, but before exodus it was fine, becouse I was playing eve on the portable all the time. so this realy sux. Im gonne stay at home for a week now, without my real computer and no f.. eve to play. it sux. Atleast CCP should let us decide what font to use, cant they just have 2 fonts and let us choose what font we want our client to use? it shouldnt be that hard should it?
If they wont fix it, Ill be a very unhappy customer.

Sounds like the Texel Alignment Slider needs tweaking. What I was trying to say, was it looked very similar to the texel sliding problem from 2003. See this forum strand: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=9040

I have a laptop with a sys videocard too. It's a lousy video card I admit.
However I don't think that is only thing that not right here. The game is to blame as well. The problems I have are two things, i can't see the pictures of the characters and the text is invisible. Al the moving more difficult stuf works fine.
Text and pictures. I mean how hard can it be? There should be a fail save option to get these things to work even on crappy videocards.
And it's a shame because I would be playing it a lot on my Laptop if I could.
