I share accounts with my brother and its kinda hard for him to keep up with me because it takes me days to get a skill higher up. I would like it so you can train skills on all characters but it takes longer to train something if your offline and than normal speed if your online. |

It takes longer if you're offline?

I don't think those that work should be penalised for having that off-line character/account skill learning slowed.
However, I agree with you. My brother started to try out eve on my account, and decided to not even bother when he couldn't train his character beside mine.
That was potentitally another account, but sadly as they couldn't do much, lost interest really fast.
I don't think many people appreciate how many family members might share one account. Inability to do something with one and other character is somewhat of a hinderence.
Sure, CCP makes their money by us having to spend longer in the game to get results. Likewise that longer period in game does bore people greatly, and will result in some leaving before the potential of the game is reached.
I still think you should be able to train each character seperately. They are seperate characters after all.

No thanks, and then everybody else just trains up their uber alts.
If two people want to play eve, they should buy separate copies. ------------------------------------------------------------

I would love to have a second character as powerful as my first! But I think I should have to buy a second account for that. I'm pretty sure CCP is non-negotiable on this one.

Okay than if you want me to get another account would you like to pay for it? Paying over $20 a month for both accounts?

The problem with allowing for concurrent training of all characters is that it becomes too easy to produce over-specialized "mules".
For example, since a dedicated researcher or builder doesn't need to ever leave a station, train one alt in science skills and one with industry skills. No need to train any others (well except attributes), like navigation, or engineering, or piloting. In relatively short order you can have one of the best researchers and builders in the game.
The problem with this is that it basically removes that kind of character from general play. For example, someone who wants to be a researcher would find it difficult to compete as one. Even if they are "mainly" station-based, they still need to have a more rounded set of skills, not to mention having to generate income.
I would not object to being able to cancel training on one character from another, or to split training equally among characters (e.g., two characters training simultaneously would train half as fast).

Edited by: Jorev on 19/08/2003 02:14:49 You're not supposed to share accounts. More accounts means more money for CCP and hopefully a better game for all of us.
I also wouldn't want people to be able to train multiple characters on the same account at the same time because it amounts to powerleveling, the ability to raise a character's attributes/skills without any effort or opportunity cost.

You can bet that must corps would be ran by figurehead CEO's who sit on a station and never leave. Then they could go amke a miner/research character, and then the warrior type they will actually play and have run things.
You could train all your characters in beta and that was exactly what happened.

And we have babies crying about fairness of mules.. Mules are fair game. They want one character per account, they lock it that way and drop the monthly to a reasonable amount to reflect the lower level of playability.
And I agree with needing simul training, it is a major gimp to play to not have it. It also doesn't help attract the people that won't pay for a game until they have tried it. But that was mentioned. The one, the only - Clerence Thomas CEO, Lonestar Security Services

Yeap, I say if they only want one person able to train/play per account then remove the other 2 character slots, else let us train all 3 at one time. My bro has been wanting to come over and play eve some since he has no computer atm, but he does not want to pay for another copy and apy monthly for a char he cannot play every day. He pretty much want to just leech from me :P Okay with me, but prob is he cannot train a char due to me training mine from L4 to L5 which takes 54625462546 days (exaggeration).
