Same answer (question?)...
The scorpion is the best ECM ship.
The armageddon is the best damage dealer.
Many of the other ships are pretty versitile (sp?).
The scorpion, on the other hand, isn't a very offensive ship with its 4 turrets, 4 low slots and a 9000 grid.
The armageddon isn't very good at defending itself with only 3 medium slots.

I personally like the megathron, it can almost do the same a damage as an apoc (not counting missile cos they still suck). And has an extra slots for other items, plus the nice big drone bay is nice for chucking 10 heavy drones at a time at people.

There is no best battleship or best ship in Eve - there are only best combinations of ships.
Only an idiot would fly around in a BS on their own. BS are easy to take out singley with a couple of cruisers. BS generally need escorts.
The best way (IMO) to deploy BS's is with a cruiser escort and EW support. But its mainly down to the player, not the ship.

Hey, I fly a BS around solo and if you wanna try to take me on with less than a full on air wing, you better pray you have your clone up to date. 
Seriously, though, I have always been kinda partial to the Apoc for its 8 turrets.

Its true a Battleship with a good setup need not fear anything from cruisers unless totally ganked.

It seems to me that only people without Battleships say "only and idiot would fly around in a BS alone". Most battleships have hp's in excess of 18K with all skills and mods added in, not to mention a minimum of 6-8 weapons firing back at ya. Good luck dealing out that much damage with a couple of cruisers.

Scorpion is best 1vs1 as well.
So prolly scorp is best bship.

The Megathron is the best battleship to pickup Jovian chicks with it's dual phallic thruster drives. You pilot the Apocalypse if you want to pickup the freaky chicks though. The Minnatar battleship is good for getting some trailer trash chicks and the Caldari is good for those nerdy weird chicks who like math.

The scorpion is definately not the best npc farmer/miner, and its the worst battleship for hauling. Though it has many fancy, blinking pointy thingies.

The scorpion seems to be the best battleship for combat, those 8 medium slots let it do anything. The best mining battleship is a tie between the armageddon and the dominix. This is what i've either seen or heard.

depends. 1 on 1 the Scorp will win just because it can jame it's opponent to kingdom come... just gonna take a long time to kill it.
Personally I think letting a lone bship get in a fight is stupid, better to have a balanced fleet like.... Scorps for EW, Geddons armed for long range fighting, and Apocs to get up close and slug it out.

... I like Raven, myself; (which only shows how bad at math i am, i guess..) am sorry but the Megathron makes me laugh every time -- you have to wonder about the guy who chooses to fly a ship that looks like not even just one, but two huge d*cks, with tiny sack and both of them half-limp to that... :s

I am partial to missiles, so therefore I like the Raven. Six launchers armed with cruise missiles, two large turrets and the saved cap for shield hardeners and boosters (not to mention the best shields in the game), add the right skills i.e., level 4 engineering skills and missile skills, and you've got something that can definitely outlast an apocalypse fitted with cap-guzzling lasers. Oh yeah ... outfit the low slots with rare power diag systems = W0W
Reason being that an EM hardener and a thermal hardener will totally gimp laser damage, while you can throw the less-resisted kinetic and explosive damage ordnance right back at them. If only the raven's bonus was to projectile weapons, it would be unstoppable 
Anyway, when I get my raven back that I lost due to not having weapons equipped  , I'll test it out.
But as has been pointed out, they all have their strengths and weaknesses, and I am talking purely pvp fighting here. The raven clearly sucks goat grundle when it comes to fighting NPCs (missiles = too expensive). I'd go with a laser-wielding apocalypse for that any day.
