Why is CCP protecting Corp Thieves? They manage to get Director rights (or other rights) in a corp and clean that corp wallet and/or hangars.
Oke, I agree that is a risk the corp takes, but if that corp wants to do something about it the thief just goes to CCP and cries his eyes out saying the corp don't want him to leave.
CCP will send a message then to the CEO of the corp warning him not to keep people inside their corp that want to leave.
So corp thieves can steal the stuff and also are protected if the corp wants that person in the corp till they have the money/stuff back or his pod.
Piracy oke, but if CCP allows the piracy they should also have a option for corps to take out the thief. And no bounty, but action!

It is a risk you take.
If you change their rights to keep them in the Corp you are breaking CCP rules. It sucks but its the way it is. Put a bounty on their head or keep an eye on him and declare war with any corp he joins, but other than that, you cant do squat.

It should be up to the corp do stop theft, not CCP. Whatever the situation, a corp shouldn't be able to stop members from leaving if they want to, because it's interfering with how that player wants to play the game.

Let's say you wanna have a dread and your CEO tells you your corp will help you to get one. Now you spend like 2BISK and a *beep*load of time into the corp wallet. Then your CEO decides that running 10 small POS at metalless moons is way more cool then one single dread. What would you do? So how sould CCP decide if corp theft is corp theft? Maybe one just takes what belongs to him and says good bye.

Risk is part of the game. If you want 100% certainty - go play a game not involving other humans.

The point is, that's considered harassment by CCP, and is petitionable.
Someone with a tad experience in corp theft has said: Linkage
My opinion? Trusting the wrong person has it's consequences, abusing someone's trust should too, but the devil is in the details |

If i steal stuff from my pretend corp, i akknowledge that more than likely i'll get named and shamed, hunted down, and killed. But not locked in the building. Its game mechanics ffs, ccp is enforcing the standard rule "The LORD GOD CCP shalt not protect thine from thine ownst stupidity" Why does a member need complete access? The fact that someone would hypothetically even ASK for access to the directors can would raise red flags in my head.

In our small corp, we only give acces to hangars to people we know IRL, so we can hunt them down and poison their gold fish, skin their kitten or hang their dog when they rob us .
Regardless, I think it's good policy to only put things in accessible areas if you know you can afford to loose it or accessible to your most trusted people only. Though I loath corp-thieves, I'm happy it is possible in the game. It makes true friends and relationships that much more important.

The problem is there's no way to counter-attack a corp thief. Didn't even Istvaan say he wished that it were possible? Also, to be technical, having access to something is not the same as ownership. My father has access to prettymuch every aspect of the company he works for. If he decides to steal all the secrets, or sell them to competitors, the company has a slew of options to pretty much ruin his life completely. In EVE, the corporations have no such thing. There is no law enforcement that recognizes theft, nor is it possible to repossess the goods.
Plsu you have the sad fact that most corp thieves are nothing but spineless people who hide behind an alt. Few people have the balls to use their main, but even those people can be retty damn safe. Afterall, if I were to completely empty out CAIN's hangars.. well the ones I have access to, and hide in an NPC corp. They'd be pretty much stuck hoping to get me in low sec or trick me into getting flagged for them. Would that be fair for them? No, not really, and if such a thing happened in real life, you'd see me behind bars, and them with their equipment returned, what's left of it atleast, and them owning my personal property to make up for losses they couldn't recover.
It's kinda ****ty when you think about it. There could be tools for a corp to use to get revenge, but there aren't. I honestly think they should beable to force you to remain in the corp for a set period of time, or just downright have you killed while in your station or something. The total immunity you can have now is just rather sad. Add in the blatant alt abuse we've seen and it's even worse.

Simple fix: Only 100 million in the corp wallet, only a handful of ships in the corp hangars, the rest is and stays in the CEO wallet/hangar unless needed. In that case, the needed item can be traded / escrowed.
Also, there is no point in giving anyone, especially fairly new corp members, access rights they dont absolutely need.
