Mine was the 8 bit Nintendo. My cousins were rich and got all the cool stuff for Christmas, every year I was getting the things they got last year. So when I got my Nintendo and I knew that's what it was under the tree I would sit and stare at it after school everyday. Never had I wanted something so bad before. I can still remember opening it and pulling it out of the box and the smell.
I played that thing for three days straight, I could not put the damn thing down. Mario/Duckhunt and Double Dragon until I had to go back to school. After that there hasn't been anything I wanted so badly. Think I was 14 then maybe.

All I ever got for xmas was lumps of coal

Mine is very similar to yours, my excitement was with the super nintendo though, i had previously had other computers and consoles but i was especially excited about the SNES, one of the main reasons being that i could play an arcade perfect version of streetfighter 2, i loved that game so much in the arcade, I the same as you used to get home from school running up to christmas time filled with excitement and looking at my wrapped up SNES under the tree and then finnaly when christmas day come i opened it up at about 4am, i played streetfighter 2 to death from that day onward, i even completed it on lvl 7 with all the different chars, never felt that excited about a christmas present ever since, back in the day when games where designed to test your skill and were very playable and enjoyable instead of just a load of hot graphics like today.
