I'm the Auditor of VHI, so I get oh so fun duties of making sure things are where they're supposed to be and all that. So for the last 2 months or so, I've noticed our "Impounded" section has started to grow, mostly due to members deactivating their accounts and all their possessions become property of the corp.
Now with all that said and done, how do I go about retrieving some of this lovely cargo? Some of it is T2 gear totalling in the 100 mil area, which would be nice for the corp coffers as war maintenance gets expensive once you started replacing Battleships + T2 kits. So yes, suggestions?

Usually there is some sort of a fee to get items out - if there is a fee try paying it. When I came back to EVE I had a 10k fee, paid it and got everything back.

I did this only once and it happened so quickly, I did not keep notes but it think this is what happened.
You go to the station where the gear is, and opt to "rent office" space. This then gets you the prompt to pay arrears to release the impounded gear. You pay and you get the gear but if you decline to pay the arrears, i think you rent office space and loose the gear.

I did this a few days ago (just returned to the game after two years absense, and had my own 1-man guild)
go to station that has impounded items... click on the 'corp hangar' button and it *should* tell you that there are impounded items to be collected. this cost cash though... but not a lot, compared to what the gear is worth, yes? ;)
this was for corps hangars anyway... don't know if it's the same with member hangars. :\
probably though.

I've never paid more than 10k for impounded items though, mind you... I never put ships in there, see. ;)

Go to the sation the items are impounded at.
Click on Corp hanger.
Popup will notify you you have impounded items and ask if you would like to claim them for a fee of course.
Read carefully though.
I have an item impounded in Agil right now and the impound fee is over 30 Billion.
