The bounty system currently in EVE is completely meaningless. I have a 3/4 billion bounty on my head for, um, what? Im a carebear in High sec, miner and Indy. Wouldn't hurt a fly. But I have a bounty. I would expect better from EVE devs because this is some ****-poor mechanics.
If you step into the wrong chat room and say the wrong thing, you get a bounty. If you price something on the market that appears to be an undercut, you get a bounty. If you post on these forums and some know-it-all freak doesn't like what you have to say, you get a bounty. Its absolutely totally meaningless. If I was an outlaw or a pirate I'd want to wear the "WANTED" stamp proudly, I'd want people to know I was a badass that did things other players only dreamed of. I would compete with my fellow pirates on who can get their bounty the highest. As it is I'm a bigger badass as a carebear miner in high sec. I see some pirate bounties that are totally pathetic, Im so much badder than them! Those strip miners of mine ruin regions and cause the collapse of mego corps!
They should replace the term bounty with the term "I hurt the Butt of some egotistical idiot".
Btw, please add to my bounty, I'm embracing this ****! I want to have the biggest bounty in the game, Carebear bountied miners UNITE! I want to further prove that the devs of this came are complete idiots by being a carebear miner with the highest bounty in the game. Vote for me!

The bounty system definitely does need to change. Specifically, we need to be able to place bounties on the forum.

I just use them to keep track of a hearty bunch of space bros that frequent a top secret channel for cool guys. We then proceed to post the mail we received and wait until the killmail shows up in our cool lounge for cool elite bros. Then we proceed to laugh at and taunt said pilot who lost his ship/pod until he cries. We drink the tears, give the person another bounty of 420,420 and smoke cigars.
Such is life in leetsec.

It's not like the old system where you could just pod your self with an alt and collect the isk yourself.

I don't recall saying that High sec makes me immune, I'm a testament that it doesn't. Any butthurt idiot can place a bounty on anyone, that's what makes it meaningless. When you hear the word "bounty" traditionally one may think of retribution, outlaws, badass behaviours, etc. Now it just means "Ah ok someone pissed off a jerk". Wait, I guess that has meaning! but not in the traditional sense. Should I revise my statement? Are you adding to my Bounty?
