I have 3 had instances today where my drones just fly off and attack whatever the hell they want to after they kill the first target I tell them to attack. Twice it was no big deal and the 3rd time I could have died. This lead me to think with all the hostile changes made to missions and such does CCP have the drones programed to attack random targets so everything becomes hostile and you die? There is no rhyme or reason to where drones go unless there are no other targets left on a stage. This cannot be accidental.

I doubt it. Maybe you shouldn't just let them float around. Gather them when you are done with them.

It often looks like they wanna get killed and you along with them.

I'd say it's not random target  . When I have only one ennemy at 40km, aggro to me, drones won't attack.
But if I have 5-6 ennemies aggro at 20km, and some ennemies, non-aggro, at 50km, drones will go attack the non-aggro guys at 50km.
Their primary target seems to be the non aggro ones, the farther the better

Ive seen drones recetly in a lvl 4 mission pull just about everything in about 20 seconds ... drones are not on next years christmas card list !!

There's little rhyme nor reason to unguided drone behavior. Drones will attack anything within their range if in a fighting mood and without orders. They probably go for the next nearest target or some such thing.
If that's a structure, that sort of behavior might very well lead to mass-aggro and mothership death. The drones are now free to join a rogue drone hive 
What you need to learn, like every drone-master has learned, is to micro-manage your little pack of frig-eaters. Never leave them without orders, until there's only structures left.
Now if only CCP were to fix the bug where docking drones get stuck in some sort of loop just 1550 meters behind your ship....
