Vampires.
Scared the crap out of me. It actually made me wish for a cross for my birthday, to use as protection, just in case.
Today, 20 years later, I find vampires fascinating and love vampire novels and films.. Masuat'aa Matari webpage

when I was very very small the child catcher out of chitty-chitty bang-bang scared the bezesus out of me.
When I was a little older a lot of the nasties in the x-files has me terrified, I perticuarly remember tombs (that dude who ate livers and could squeeze through pipes) and the mothman (I think thats what they were called they had glowing red eyes but could make themselves invisible in the undergrowth)

Edited by: jbob2000 on 28/12/2005 02:48:44 I think being told that the sun would eventually expand and engulf the earth scared me for a good year before someone told me it would happen long after I was dead.
I think worms scared me too, they can get in ANYWHERE!!!
Also I had this stuffed toy of the red power ranger and I always thought it would creep up beside my bed while i was lying there, which would be fkin scary as hell.

Mine is Aliens.(And i mean the Aliens that are stuffed in Area 51 type of guys) I used to think that they whould pick me up in my sleep, so in order to prevent that, i hid under the covers, keeping me out of view from them.

Without a doubt my complete poo pants memories as a kid were the UK's 70's-80's public information films that told you to shut your windows and hide under the stairs in case of a nuclear attack...i mean for FFS these little adverts bounced about prime time TV for nearly 20 years...
you can find some of them HERE its real player though[:evil]
come on share your scary kid moments...
[/quote
I enjoyed that site. The public info films really brought back some memories. Especially being ruddy terrified of nuclear war for most of the late 70's and early 80's.
I remember being terrified by that Play safe: frisbee film.

Remind me about The Maze.

I used to be really scared of the 'Mash monsters' - they were robot like characters that appeared in a TV commercial for some instant potatoe called Smash. We lived near a number of disused flooded gravel pits and my parents convinced me the monsters lived in the pits to keep us from going over there.
They had some catch phrase that I misinterpretted as "we will smash their torbits.' I had no idea where my torbits were but I didn't want mine smashed.
What made it worse was a friend telling me that they had got into his house, thrown potatoe all over the floors and overturned the TV.
Pure evil.

I loved that film as a kid Still do actually You have to love a children's film that includes a swearing seagull.
What was it that freaked you out? That fat angry rabbit who could take on a dog, or rabbits talking generally? __________________________ Indulge Me |

Wow, loads of people scared of their parents arguing? I guess I am lucky that my parents got divorced.
Anyway, used to be freaked out at drowning. Now I am just really really freaked out by bees/warps/hornets.

to make matters worse I live in the adirondack state park WAYYYYYYYYY upstate NY. where at night its darker than 3 feet up a dogs arse, I live in a cabin/workshop and eat, wash, etc at the main farmhouse * I live on a intentional community * the path from my house to the main house looks just like a scene out of the blair witch project and takes about 5 min to walk. to make matters worse I have to walk by a 200 year old family plot cemetary with about 40 graves in it the woods are RIGHT up to the path on one side of it. damn straight I carry a big knife with me at night heh.
