I am flying a Thorax loaded with 5 Heavy Ion Blasters... loaded with a tungsten charge, my optimum range reads as 3675.
For some reason when I'm at a reasonably close range to this, IE, 3500 or 3750, my weapons almost never ever hit.
Does anyone know what I'm missing? Until I can figure it out it's back to railguns for me.

When you use blasters, always use Antimatter charge, always carry Web, stand still after you approach webbed enemy.

Tracking, transversal...etc.
Deosn't matter what your range is if you orbit so fast that your guns can't line-up with the target to blast it.

Thanks for the webbing tip, I think that will make my life easier; I think that orbiting would explain my missing like crazy.
Again, thanks. Sorry for being such a newb. ;)

Edited by: Lansfear on 27/12/2005 06:42:42 Blasters have the most horrible effect from needing to be so close.
Not only does your targets transversal get calculated in but YOURS does too. And at such close range the tracking needed is insane. As is, blasters don't have the tracking needed.
Basicly you and your target need to be as close to 0 m/s as possible. Also you need to stay very close to your optimal. You can see how tricky that is at 3km distance.
Edit: I forgot to mention. If you are npcing: "Approuch" your target forcing them to fly away from you. This will help eliminate most Transversal if you cant fit a webber.

Edited by: Pattern Clarc on 27/12/2005 06:57:54 It's a pretty rubbish situation. I like to think of optimal range, damage modifers and tracking as tactical stiuations. With blaster's it seems that you don't have the speed+tracking-range charateristic as you'd might deem obvious in terms of tactical game play - instead you have the more than mediocure damage mod - IMHO i would have had blasters fill that hole for a close fast and dirty kinda game play with crusiers and BS's instead of this armour tanking business which would complement the way alot of players try and play.
