"This should be common knowledge, but we clearly need an official statement: When in-game, do not attack, ship kill or pod the GMs. They are not official players and do not abide by the same rules as others. If a GM is in-game, it's not to play but to investigate some matter or help a player. If you start interfering, you are causing trouble for the people we are trying to help. There is absolutely no justification, ever, for attacking a GM - no matter what ship he's flying, where he is, whether he responds to your chat invitations or not, and so on.
The way to spot a GM is by his name. If someone's name starts with "GM" then he is one, irrespective of his ship, equipment, location or other factors. They also have differently coloured text (red at the moment) and are in many cases found flying special ships not available to regular players.
If you attack a GM, you can expect repercussions. These may take any form, including formal warnings and even bans, both temporary and permanent."
Why exactly should this be a common knowledge please?
Why do you think that something a GM says is final? I have seen a lot of contrary stuff in your statements? Based on that it is best to shoot you in the game to get rid of you, you are only confusing people.
The next GM send by a carebear to investigate in an obsolete exploit petition is hopefully going to be podded as well.
Basicly you are carebears too, one of yours got podded and you start a big whine on the forums and as the carebears you threaten players with warnings and bans.
Maybe you are even DREAMWORKS.

Seriously, I really gotta wonder about some of these people that seemed to have lost all capacity for common sense. Makes me believe that they are just stirring the pot for the sake of attention and controversy.

Why don't EVE GM's have an invulnerable mode, like in...well...EVERY OTHER ONLINE GAME SINCE TELNET MUDS?

As i sia din the other post... then they should have non offical ships so they cant be harrased... Its realy not that hard... Im s ure i could code it in 5 mins if CCP asked me too... Including a lot of other bugs, since i dont belive in the clasic M$ software shipping method.

If GMs rolepay characters who can be killed then they should expect to be shot at.
Is it really that hard to make the GM ships invincible? that would solve this whole mess. Otherwise the GMs who are killed should just play along or stay out of the way.
And whats so terrible about killing a GM anwyays? they get all their stuff for free.

What a terrible destructive attitude.
CCP gets burned by people no matter what they do. I think it will be hard for CCP to satisfy the people that think because they pay their 13 a month they deserve everything and the right to act like an *******.

Where has all this "roleplay" lark come from?
If a GM is going to roleplay he wouldn't be using the "GM" moniker, surely?
Unless it is to set up some containers like the recent Container Event.
As soon as a GM feels he has to become "GOD" to fly freely in space then GM's will have to face the fact they can't trust the players.

Whilst I do not agree with most of what Molly is saying, there is an element (however small) of sanity in there somewhere.
The GMs do put forward a confusing message and whatever it's merits, the "On attacking GMs" sticky, does come across badly.
There have not been any announcements at any stage that a GM might be present for any reason other than roleplaying. For that reason, I think that those that have been punished for attacking a GM have been unfairly treated regardless of whether they knew they it was a GM.They had no way of knowing that it was wrong.

Frankly I am discinclined to believe GM Abraxis, the word of a GM is hardly the word of CCP.
GM = Tech Support. (basically)
I for one will be podkilling GMs if I feel like it. If they have a problem with that they can podkill me back.

Now that's a joke. The customer is usually wrong, stupid, ignorant, arrogant, impatient, insulting and ofcourse, demanding. This attitude you will get after working in the service industry. You will notice that the customer is generally wrong and you just do what they say to shut them up ad get them off your face.
Now if a customer came around insulting my employees like some of you people are doing around here, I would personally come out and put you in your place, inform you that I don't want your business and kick you out.

Questions still remain:
- Why does he expect to be that what he is saying common knowledge?
- Why is it needed to threaten players with warnings / bans because of such funny stuff like podding a GM?
- Why does one GM says something and the next GM says something 100% different on the same topic?
- Why aren't they low profile GMs? Each time I see one investigating one in an exploit petition against me it spoils the fun for me. GMs in pen & paper RPGs are somhow invisible too to enforce rules, and for interaction with players they manifest in form of NPCs.
And so on.
But go on, and use the word uber as often as you can, no one is using it in german in your context.

No customers, no money, no company, that's true but that doesn't give the customer to be argumentative, insulting and abusive.
I run my own business, if you came around ****ed off because I didn't satisfy a service contract or did not deliver as promised, I will do my best to correct the issue. Now if you came around just to be insulting, demanding, and abusive I would quickly come out and send you to hell after returning your money. Nobody has the right to be disrespectful and specially verbally abusive, no matter how much money is involved. Just because you are a customer I will not put up with that bull****, I don't need the money from people like that.

- Because he has high expectations that everyone in the playerbase is an intelligent person or, at the very least, has crawled 5 yards from the gene pool.
- Because banning someone is guaranteed to make them sit up and pay attention.
- Because they're human and sometimes **** happens.
- An NPC is even more likely to be shot at than a GM, d'oh
