Its hard to say what server to use, as there are so many, just have to try some out until you find one that you like.
Oh and don't forget to do download the.. 400mb (?) of patches so you can actually get on some servers.

i like the official EA UK servers, when the multiplayer screen opens type ea uk bf2 o into the name filter and hit enter, then a list of good servers appears just for bf2 (not SF servers). enjoy :) _____________________________________ The zenith of hypocrisy. |

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Don't support EA's money making scheme! They start off by pushing BF2 out in a barely playable beta state, forcing us to wait a month or two for a patch to actually make it possible to play the game the same hour you decide to start playing it. Meanwhile, while the game is in deep crisis and fans are raving mad, they announce this stupid expansion. Fans grows even more furious. The patch finally saved the game from early death, and Im now enjoying it without having to pay for the expansion. I don't need those pathetic new weapons, the night vision and questionably implemented grapplinghook. I can just pick those guns up from fallen soldiers anyhow.
The only expansion I respect is the Zero Hour expansion for C&C Generals. It is the best expansion ever since Opposing Force for Half-Life. Every other expansion in existance has been purely about making money on things that might as well have been content patches to fix the original game.

Dont forget the "Let everyone play for a month+, then lose half of everyones stats to hackers" incident.

Bf2 worked great since the day i got it not long after it came out.
Now special forces on the other hand is a buggy piece of crap that i cant get to run without whole maps flickering out and insanne lag. ------------------------------------------- Aye Spellcheck is beyond me along with propper grammer. |

The first release came with a barely functional server browser and no support for 3rd party browsers such as All-seeing eye. Basically, it took 5 minutes to retrieve the server list, and another 5 minutes to get server data for individual servers. On top of that, the login servers couldn't cope with the number of players. Stats servers could lag behind 12 hours, and sometimes not update your score at all. Linux server compability was a joke. Either you have forgotten about all this, or you're a singleplayer, or you joined the game after the first patch (which was recalled the day after due to major incompability issues, wasn't it?).

The bit I love most about the SF expansion is that EA are offering charged downloads of it...for EXACTLY the same amount you'd pay at retail (about ú20/Ç30/$30). Meanwhile, amazon and play.com are selling the BOXED VERSION for ú15.
EA - load of ******* bastards, plain and simple.
They killed Bullfrog and they killed Westwood, and for that, THEY MUST NEVER BE FORGIVEN. =( -------------------------------------------------- Loyalty, Integrity, Honour. |

Peter, do you play through a router? Connection problems when playing though a router are usually because ports arnt open. I have highspeed cable internet and i love this game. I knew that when special forces came out it was just their ploy to get more money, but oh well, it worked. I bought it and i play both games quite a bit. I actually stopped playing eve for about 2 weeks because i was obsessed with getting my rank up. I like being commander and dropping artillery on giant red blobs. Its the equivalant of seeing a giant blob on an EVE map and blowing the start up from a remote location. mmmmm
