My name is Unsuccessful at Everything, and I am a Subwayaholic.
I don't know what it is about Subway, but I love that place. Ive had everything on the menu...and several things that aren't. Ive even developed my own "tactics" as it were when it comes to my torpedos of deliciousness.
Secret cheese. That's right, some Subways have a cheese or 2 not on the board...you just gotta ask! Look at the menu, if they say they offer pizza, then they have shredded Mozzarella!
The sauce that shall not be named. They don't show it anywhere, but you can have them put Marinara sauce on any sandwich! Awwww yeah.... piping hot marinara... at no additional cost.
Toast ALL the things! They will gladly toast some veggies on that sub for you... Never not toast Onion, green peppers and jalapenos!
Some Subways have local only offerings. A subway in New England made me a 'Lobstah" roll. Yeah, it cost more than id hoped for, but damnnnnnnnnn it was good. It wasn't on the menu, just had to ask!
Know when the store manager is in/out. When the store managers are in, all of the things get skimpier! When theyre out, the employees are more apt to let you get creative.
I encourage you to go out and let your creative juices flow. Don't be afraid to ask for anything, you will always be glad you did.
Unsuccessful's Favs:
Poor mans chicken parm - Oven roasted chicken breast, topped with marinara sauce and mozzarella. Toast that sucker! Don't forget to add parmesan cheese and oregano at the end on this one. My fav veggies on this one are Spinach, tomato, onion and banana pepper....and a drizzle of oil and vinegar.
BBQ Beef - Steak , mixed with BBQ sauce, with cheddar on top. Toast it with some onions and green peppers and jalapenos. Awww yeah.
Chicken cordon bleu - Oven roasted chicken, ham (you will pay extra) and spinach topped with white American. DAM U SUBWAY, Y U NO EVAR HAVE SWISS?!?!?! Toast it up, and add some tomatos and salt and pepper. Some may want to add mayo.
The real buffalo chicken - Wait until they have the breaded chicken breast on the menu. have them toast a couple of those bad boys before they put it on the bread, and then get them to toss them in some of that buffalo hot sauce. have them toss on some pepperjack and some jalapenos and toast it. Add a stripe of ranch if youre a pansy.
I invite you to put down some of your favs, or any tips for your fellow Subwayaholics! Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

I now have the same thing every time i go to subway. It's a bit random but I really like Black Forest ham (extra meat), pepperjack cheese(extra cheese) , jalapenos and Ranch dressing on a footlong italian. sure i could get it bulked up with lettuce and peppers and all other sorts of empty vitamins but i ordered it once the way i just listed and now i am perfectly content to order it every time i go to subway. |

I ride the subway to and from work, 5 days a week. And I'll be using it to get to school and home, when school starts. I wish I could afford a car. I'm so tired of riding the subway. Watch this space.-á New exciting signature in development. |

Black bears love Subway. The Subway in my hometown was held up by a hungry black bear a few years ago. Kitimat Subway Bear . The video may not be available in your area but some searching should find an available copy. I would make a sig but it would frighten and offend you. |

I have subway about twice a week. You just can't beat the $5 footlong. That's 2 meals right there, and it is cheaper than going to the store and buying fresh veggies (at least in my remote corner of the world). |

I understand this to be a true story, though third hand.
A British chap is in Subway at New York airport, and is making his order. The woman asks "6 inch or footlong?".
Understand this about us, you have just given the cynical joking Brit an opportunity for a joke, it would be a crime against the crown not to take this god given opportunity.
And so he says, "that's a bit of a personal question isn't it?".
Enraged, he is arrested a minute later after the cashier hit the panic button citing sexual threats

Not something I ever thought I would admit in public....but here we go.
I have avoided Subway. It is like the "Public Shame City of Not Knowing WTF You Are On About" to me.
Meatballs on a sandwich?
I just don't understand:
A) So many options - I mean really? B) What do they all mean? C) What if I order the wrong thing in front of some really cool dude? D) When I get it, what if it falls to pieces when I take it off the counter? E) How do I eat a spaghetti meatball carbonara jalapeno mayonnaise chilli pepperoni cheese footlong?
These are all sandwich related issues that have prevented me from going into a Subway in the first place.
Slightly first world issues I know.
Aaaaaaand relax. |

At nearly -ú8 a hit and way short of premium and that is after being told where you may or may not que or order from..I respectively suggest that they go and stuff there Subway up their very own Subway.
Only a single step-up the food-chain from a MickeyD or even that place that sells the Chernobyl Chicken..you know the place that serves 6 wings 3 drumsticks and other assorted "GREY" chicken meat but no Breast in a 14pce Family bucket meal for four.
Real Ale and Real Food ftw!!!

They claim the bread is baked right there, but it's of such a truly terrible quality that it ruins the otherwise on-par fixings utterly.
Besides, the last 3 times or so I ever went, 'language barriers', when placing my order, was the least of the issues.

when i worked at one we certainly did bake it there...however, the dough is certainly not made on scene. it came to us in boxes like frozen bread sticks. we then thawed it and used a humidifier type appliance to make it rise in these specifically sized bread mold trays. when it had risen to its correct size we then baked it fresh on the scene. right in front of customers lol. when it was done we put it on cooling racks and then bagged it when it was room temp so it wouldn't get condensation in the bag.
i never really had an issue with the bread. i rather liked it. the trick is not letting it rise to much so it's not flabby and the texture off. |

For always, and forever it is the Veggie Delite-«.
For hot meaty subs, I prefer the local mom-n-pop sub shops.

Although I prefer Mr. Sub (Lousisiana Chiiiiiickeeeeeen!!), there is not much that could satisfy me more than a toasted sub from Subway. Dorian Trollmak. |

The bread just seemed to instantly start breaking up after the first bite from a kind of mealy texture to the whole thing. Like the roll couldn't hold itself together at all.
Maybe it was all the humidity and fog in San Francisco. I really don't know. |

maybe the quality of your sandwich artists was substandard in that part of the nation. i, myself, was a magnificent artist. bread, meats, condiments and veggies my mediums. people used to request me by name to make their sub. i like to think it was because they admired my elite skills and not the fact that i was jailbait. however, i do live in a very small town..so i must allow the latter possibility.
point of pride to think otherwise though!
this thread is making me want subway lol ...but it closes in 4 minutes |
