with the patch due out in the January.
It is "almost" unusable because of the size and intensity of the yellow blobs and the light bright red fringes from the empire hubs even extend into 0.0. You have to zoom really close into a 0.0 area to really see the blobs in a system 5-10 jumps away.
I know quite a few people that have also complained about it while chatting, so I don't think this is a change solely desired by me.
I don't know if it was a change in RMR, or simply the fact that there are more players online, but the "size" of a blob as shown on the map has to seriously shrink.

I agree, its impossible to see anything but huge yellow blobs.

Maybe they should make better use of color, rather than just use yellow for small-medium populations and red for huge populations...I mean since the size of the blom is dictated entirely by the number of pilots in system, the color is, as of now, entirely redundant.

Indeed, ccp should just use colours instead of blobs size of 3 regions, or option to pick one of these two.
So why not make them similar to sec status atm ?
Change colour per the power of 2, ppl in system - like this :
(sec colour = # ppl in space or docked and active )
grey = 0 (same as now)
0.0 = 1
0.1 = 2-3
0.2 = 4-7
0.3 = 8-15
0.4 = 16-31
0.5 = 32-63
0.6 = 64-127
0.7 = 128-255
0.8 = 256-511
0.9 = 512-1023
1.0 = 1024+
This way there would be pretty much more than eve will ever need. Or next few years, atleast
