I've noticed that on a multiprocessor machine Eve hangs a lot. The client just freezes and doesn't redraw the screen. It also consumes 100% of both CPUs when this happens (vs the normal 50% or 1 CPU fully used). Anybody else see this on a multiproc system?

Edited by: Ruffles on 19/08/2003 16:17:31 Humm... Perhaps asigning the EVE process to just one processor at initialisation of the process would be the answer.
Have you tried adjusting the process affinity when the game is first running? See if just allowing one processor to respond to the process results in a more stable game.
Edit: Please let me know if you are unsure what I am waffling on about ;)

I have a dual XEON 2.2GHz system, using a SuperMicro X5DAE motherboard, and 1GB of RAM. I use Windows XP Pro, and I don't have the problem you are describing.
You might be right in your assumption that it is related to dual processor systems, but not all dual processor systems. Let me know if I can help you nail down what is specifically causing problems. __________________________________________________

Thanks gang. I'm gonna try the process afinity trick to see what happens. Good tip!

Edited by: Lithorus on 19/08/2003 22:39:59 100% cpu on both seems very strange, think you have to look elsewhere, the gfx/sound drivers. Crappy drivers and multiprocesor can easily be a problem. Also it would be nice to know which OS you are using and what kernel you use(ACPI/non-ACPI).
