Edited by: KilROCK on 29/12/2005 03:10:04 I think the tempest would have killed you alot faster if he was using a conventional AC setup.. but that's just me i guess..
I knew it would end up wrong just when i saw this thing go WRRROOM next to you. Infact... if the zealot wasn't sniping with beams and had stopped the tempest from coming closer (with web of course), i think you'd have won by keeping it out of your range...
It sucks to see MC lose like that after you fought to get in the tournament...

One of the biggest upsets in the tournaments and one of the closest fights. This is an amazing fight, but I would chew out my support wingmates if I was you, for the pure fact that the tempest had the ability to mwd to you without one of them webbing it.
Sad though as it is, like kilrock said, how Seleene worked hard to get MC and other small alliances a chance to play part in the tournament and Mercenary Coalition gets knocked out in the first round. --------

I just watched your video and I must say that I was suprised in the fact that it wasn't at all "smacky". I am so used to videos that are.
Early into that fight I thought I was going to die because the lag in the system was so severe that it took over 40 seconds to turn on my armor rep. It somewhat relieves me to find out that I was not the only one with this problem. It was a very equal fight ship wise and I am glad that we got this opportunity to fight against such fine pilots.
For the record, I had 83.1 structure left in that fight 3% hull implant 4TW! ...I was praying that you wouldn't get a wrecking hit and finish me off. Very close and very dramatic. Too bad Eve does not have live broadcasting of events like this on video. I bet our teams would have had people standing and screaming (well at least those who bet on us).

hey for a pvp group u guys made a rather big mistake imo
ur megathron had 3 hardeners. i assume kin, therm, exploive well u should of fit 3 energized adaptive nanos t2. gives >50% to ALL with good skills and sues less cpu. that could of actually made the difference
good move taking their hac out first though

With maxed skills 3 energized adaptive nano II gives 49.67% to all, however Eyeshadow's been concentrating on the drone skills since RMR was released and hasn't yet trained them. So 3 energized adaptive IIs for him give 41.4% to all. I'm more concerned about that sensor booster personally ;).
Got to love fights that are that close though, props to the pest pilot for coming back from such a near death experience.

Theres lots of ifs and buts etc etc. I shoulda carried a web, and was debating it furiously in my mind before the fight.
My guns couldnt hit him once he got into orbit. I coulda gone with a blaster setup but then if id have come up against a raven it woulda been over fast
As for our frig + cruiser webbing the tempest, i didnt wanna send our claw against their pulse zealot til it was dead, but by then it was too late.
It was a great fight though. All i can say is AM got VERY lucky that their crow didnt die, and then that their tempest survived with 83 structure. Thats some serious luck, which ever way you look at it. It was still well played though
Now please stop picking the fight apart. Hindsight is a great thing and you can say what you want but i didnt know what we were going up against, and i know i made some errors

Dual cap injectors would be hard to fit on that ship, even with only tech I mods in the slots. After fitting 2 large accoms, 5 diminishing nos, 3 arbi cruise and quad lif MWD you are left with 600 grid and 212 cpu.
Dual med cap injectors if used would mean a waste of a slot :p
Still the point of using a NOS pest over the phoon is the ability to fit 2 large reps AND a whole bunch of NOS. Yay for grid.

This is another one i thought about. If i had of sent the claw + zealot in to web, it wouldnt have lasted long as the zealot was outta cap very fast anyway and the claw died quite fast to the duel/triple painting from the tempest/crow. Again, it would have been a delay and coulda won it for us, but again, ifs buts and hindsight

just read more of the replies... EVE is a game of luck also, like he said if he was a blaster setup and mett a raven, it wouldnt have been nice... he chose a setup, and i imagine gave it ALOT of thought, prob too much...
the tempest looked like it was gone pretty early on in the fight, but somehow managed to rep pretty much exactly the ammount of damage they was dishing... then when the megas cap was gone the outcome was obvious.
this game is so much like rock paper scissors its scary.

humm dont know all the rules but it looks like 1bs 1 crusie 1 frig
personally id have gone with the follwoing.
similar megathron setup as the one in the vid: with minimatar sentry drones in bay [or t2 ogres]. good move useing cap injecter to sustain tank.
a harpy with lead [45km optimal], webber, 150mm t2 rails, maybe sensor booster to grab that frig fast
1600mm plated tough tank ishtar with a set of ogre 2s [minimatar sentry drones] [light t2 explosive drones] [+ otehr drones]
start range is 50km, so harpy makes their frig pirmary, killing it very fast if its a cepter, ,killing it fast if its a AF] try take the oposit side hac out fast as possible using the sentry drones harpy and ishtar.
take their BS down last, hitting it with 475DPS from t2 ishtar ogres [310DPS from megathrons t2 ogres +t2 mega guns + harpy]
cant see that setup failing TBH, harpy gets some trans speed ASAP, takes down their frig ishtar gets some trans fast too, launching ogre 2s [sentrys] as needed. megathron launches sentrys and makes hac/bs pirmary
sadly we are not in the tournament, or that would be my choice :) would be pleased to see someone try it out

its missile boats 4tw in the tournament. CNR's and Rattlesnakes are dominating the battles. The turret BS really are coming up secondary
I can quite easily see it being BOB v The Five in the final, CNR versus Rattlesnake. We didnt have a fully maxed Raven pilot available for the tournament otherwise i woulda put him in and flown my ishtar, which im a lot more comfortable with

TBH, I am stunned there hasn't been one fielded. I can only assume this is due, in part, to scheduling the thing during the holidays. Had I been able to make the matches, MC would have also had our own CNR pilot with over nine million skill points in missiles.
I hope they do this more than once a year tho. It's been a lot of fun watching how things have progressed. -

Problem with a bhaalgorn is, a cnr/rattle can kill it easily because once the cnr/rattle runs out of cap to tank, so does a lot of the bhaalgorns tank, whilst the bhaalgorn will be doing hardly any damage and the cnr/rattle will be raping it.

true, but assume u have an ishtar too and it isnt dead.
475DPS from its t2 ogres to CNR unhardened shields = 30sec to take down 11-12k shields perhaps under a min total to take down the cnr.
so long as the bhaalgorn has full cap when the CNR has zero cap, its more than possible.
problem is that the bhaalgorn needs to get into nos range, gona take it 40sec. needs to stand a beating for that time with just an injecter. also gona take 3 large t2 reps to stand the beating of the CNR while it looses cap.
ideal setup imo
ishtar [sentry drones, t2 heavy drones] harpy [lead with 45km optimal] raven with torps, and a cap injecter, with mostly gank in lows

the mega used heavy armor drones to keep the deimos alive (720 rep per 10sec with 5 heavys + skill @ 4) and i believe the deimos did the same back to the mega. The mega was using a nos heavy setup and relying on keeping the deimos alive to provide firepower. Incredibly intelligent and very well executed

That fitting was running a CPU II to enable me to run a completely tech2 fitting, as we couldnt use faction mods in the tournament. Even with the CPU on, i had naff all CPU left, and just managed to squeeze the medium remote rep on. I dont think it even has the grid for a heavy nos, let alone the cpu

This coming from a pilot who couldnt stop/kill a bestower in a crusader.
And if someone brought a properly fitted bhaalgorn to the tournament, then it would be all over.
LOL at you stupid noob, there was probably a good reason for that, like i had a web, or you had stabs or ecm.
Was a noob thron pilot injecting cap to repair in stead of finishing the 10% structure the tempest had
Oh quit mumbling, they fought and lost, Respect them for that. Sure the setup wasn't all planned out and could have been improved to survive that tempest and kill it but who CARES?
He's not the best megathron pilot, granted he admits he'd rather fly HACS and Dominix over long range battleships. It doesn't make him a noob and MC already fought hard to get in the tournament, keep your smack to yourself.
But hey, i love to smack too. And i didn't.

There is no reason for the fact that you suck, now go back to your corner of 0.0 and stick to trying to catch traveling industrial pilots. --------

Edited by: Mishima on 31/12/2005 20:13:35 skillpoints is not pvp skills so even if he had railgun specilation lvl4 you'd prolly be better off with some1 experienced in pvp using that char
you tried, but man losing like that gotta sting, all he had to do was inject some cap and try to get some hits in stead of repairing his 90% armor
anyways, BS piloting is close to skill-less fighting, it's the case of training skills for months-to-years and F1-f2-f3-f4-f5 etc. - oh yeah and dont forget to lock 1st!

true, but assume u have an ishtar too and it isnt dead.
475DPS from its t2 ogres to CNR unhardened shields = 30sec to take down 11-12k shields perhaps under a min total to take down the cnr.
so long as the bhaalgorn has full cap when the CNR has zero cap, its more than possible.
problem is that the bhaalgorn needs to get into nos range, gona take it 40sec. needs to stand a beating for that time with just an injecter. also gona take 3 large t2 reps to stand the beating of the CNR while it looses cap.
ideal setup imo
ishtar [sentry drones, t2 heavy drones] harpy [lead with 45km optimal] raven with torps, and a cap injecter, with mostly gank in lows
that's what we call theorystratting
