This is a quote from someone else on the forum which describes the problem very well:
Quote: Whenever i enter a station and rotate my camera to see the lights in caldari station my fps drops down, also i think that there is something wrong with eve-online light effects (i dont have none of those problems in any other game). The fps in combat is extremely low, but if i zoom out it becomes smooth again. There is nothing wrong with travelling in galaxy, everything runs smooth but whenever I see a light it drops my fps very bad.I play most of the high-end games at normal quality with that card and still couldnt understand what is wrong with light/light effects in eve...
I have a x300 on a laptop and a 9600 on a stationary comp and right now I am at a cafT with 15 computers on 9600s that all seem to suffer from poor fps when facing light effects, like the sun in a system or the lights in the caldari station.
When I don't face a light source the fps jumps through the roof, this seems to be a recently introduced bug with RMR, anyone else experiencing the same problems?
P.S And no, this is not spyware related, bad computer setup or anything like that. Everything is top notch, running latest drivers and no conflicts.

Indeed, same thing happening on my rig...
FPS drops have been known to happen preRMR, but far from this bad state.
...just untick "load station enviroment" until it's resolved...

I wouldn't mind the station really, it's the poor FPS when outside and facing the sun or exploding ships that makes the game unplayable.

Yeah I have an ATI card (9800 pro), and also experience the fps drop in stations and some situations in space, but usually fine. Quite annoying but playable...for now. ¼_¼

/me second that. I have 9600 Pro and got FPS drop after RMR release and it is really because of --> when facing light effects.
This will happen -> a light source the fps jumps through the roof. But so far haven't found solution in ATI or EVE client settings.
Hopefully someone figures this or next client patch will solve issue.

Disabling AA in ATI's CP and enabling it via EVE's client should give you back a few FPS. ...then again, not as much. :)

If you have x-fire shut it down.

I have the pretty much the same card and I don't have that issue at all.
1) What driver version are you using? 2) what OS and what Service Pack are you on
Maybe we can compare and figure this thing out. It could also be an option on the ATI card...I will look around and see if I can find anything. Shinar |

I have a mobile x300, a radeon 9600, and a radeon 9800 pro. They all share the same problem, there was very good fps just before RMR.

I too have a 9600XT and am experiencing abnormal frame rate drops within the game with a card that usually runs very well with Cold War edition.
Red Moon Rising arrives and everyones FPS goes haywire, hardly coincidence I would say
