It has not been updated for about 2 months now, so even though I have tried to keep skills up, they are still far behind what is on Tranq.
Some functions, such as the market, are so slow to load that it takes several minutes (if ever) to load. No idea what most of the changes made might be - hard to test things if you don't know what has changed.

Agreed. While I realize the database is huge and they're lacking hardware or something, it needs to be done. Soon.

I believe a technical problem may be hampering the update attempts.

Edited by: Johnson McCrae on 19/08/2003 22:59:53 Actually, its a logistics problem.
Tranq is in UK, Chaos in Iceland.
Chaos has a limited pipe, which would take several hours to download the Tranq DB from the UK.
Their trying to set up some kind of parcel post next day transfer of cd/hd with a copy. That seem's to be the problem atm. It ain't over till the fat lady falls on ya!

not only that, something suppose to be tested on chaos are not there, like giant sec cans never exist on market before the patch live so how can somebody test it? if players can get the container before patch live, obviously we can find out the bug for no password protection, then ccp can solve it before it went live. If the thing suppose to be tested are not on test server, what's the test server for?

I agree. I don't even bother to update my eve test installation anymore. The patches are often put up in funky orders, the back log of patches is not kept up, or anything simple like that.
Skill training is 100% of normal speed, That is ******* stupid. If you guys ever need something tested, like a titan, and i need 2 months to train all the skills, is it gonna happen? NO. Chaos is pure grief, i will not maintain 2 characters on that server just to help CCP untill it is made a shade easier.
Bleh.

Hm, my main issue with Chaos is that it's impossible to test anything because the patchlog is updated so rarely, I don't know what I should be specifically looking for to test. A simple patchlog in chaos new everyday would really, REALLY help.

LMAO Rising Sin, I generally dont like all the crappy signaturepics but the one you have is as good as the "all your base are belong to us" punch anim.
Why would I want to test how my Maller works when I have battleships and new skills to test on live server?
That update lag alone keeps me off Chaos.

Why can't they just make all skills rank 0.0001 or something? Then they wouldn't have to copy our characters (I assume it costs money...).

I'm waiting for the mirror as well.
They are doing major tweaks to turrets atm and from the looks of it as an energy user I am gonna need to adopt a completely different game style.
Would be nice to get some of this adaptation done before I encounter a PvP situation on tranq.
Anyway please mirror soon.
BTW: Let's keep the language to a minimum here guys, all of our goals are the same. A good game that only gets better for everyone. 'Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law' |

Out of curiosity: 1) How, exactly, do you get the new backup to chaos? 2) Why can't you just do it?

(I don't know why, but I couldn't edit my previous post.)
Edit: It's a *LOT* better for me. Gunnery 5, EM/ESO 4, Gallente bship etc... Just gotta train large hybrid/laser. Except for the fact that there's probably no station, no ships, no weapons, no modules...

It seems there is only a finite time in which you can edit posts.
It's updated, but still one week old. Better thn before, though.

No, it's 9 days old according to my wallets journal. Also, I've had my tachyons for quite some time (1 week?) now, I'm still using 7x250mm gauss at chaos.

It's not so much there for you or I to test stuff, it's there for polaris bughunters to test stuff. They have 'super-characters' anyway with all the skills maxed out so there is no problems for them.
For the rest of us, it's more of a "sure, you can play here I guess and feel important" type of thing.

Actually, testing stuff with all level 5 skills doesn't reflect regular players very much. We (the players, not me specifically) actually do help sometimes.

This is true, the problem has been that we dont have the ability to alter skills, so for us, having all the skills at level 5 for a level playing field is the best compromise.
Other problems that affect us is that like many players, our knowlege and specialisations generally cover out areas of experience, making feeback from a number of player with varying skill levels and different specialisations and experience very useful.
