I'm quoting dotlan here so would like confirmation that the Minmatar Republic held Sahtogas between 2nd Feb 2010 and 9th April 2010?
In fact, if it is not too much trouble, could we have the names and dates of the 5 longest held systems in both warzones?
Thanks in advance. |

Dotlan has it going back as far as 2008, was that the start of FW? |

Well, in the Cal/Gal warzone probably Nenna or Nis. They've been Gallente held since I joined over a year and half ago.

Dotlan has the stats if you look. Nisuwa has been Gallente since 2011-11-25. Nennamaila since 2011-11-30. You have to manually look at each system though, so unless somebody has direct access to the dotlan db, has entirely too much time to manually check every system, or thinks a system has been held longer, Nisuwa wins.

Sahtogas wins!
Maybe - I can't be arsed to confirm it all.
Anyway IMO Sahtogas is definitely the best fortress in fw having been the last hold out in so many near extinction brushes for the amarr. No other system competes. |

Sahtogas was at 64% when I logged off today so it isn't looking too good. Around 150 in Amarr militia and 230 in Minmatar at Saturday prime time. It is good to see that the year long FW changes brought SO many new pilots in. |

64%. Ouch.
I couldn't tell you how long Sahtogas has been in Amarr hands but it will be a shame to see it fall. The last defence frazzled a whole lot of people who traditionally lived in Sahtogas. Black Watch Guard have left the area and I don't know if Amarrian Vengeance are still active so I'm not sure how long it will hold out this time. |

You've hit upon what I see as the hole in CCP's plans for FW, that the people who would take FW to the next level are burning themselves out trying to counter the people exploiting the weakness in the mechanics.
Here is to crossed fingers that they hurry up and accept it is broken.
Slightly off my own topic, but does anyone have a rough idea on how player numbers in FW have varied before and after the last 'break FW' patch? |

Summer 2012 was the nadir for Amarr militia. At one point I logged on and only saw 38 peeps in the militia channel. After the October (?) emergency patch the numbers climbed dramatically. 200+ was normal. Recently the numbers are 100-150.

it does not matter much which system has been longenst held because CCP ****** up things several times and decided/ caused that owners should change.
One of the longest conquered systems was back in times Ladistier until exPERVS players decided they do not want to hold it anymore. Nisuwa has been strong hold for gallente some times.
Basically i would not count systems that originally belong to some faction because those are much easier to hold and retake than conquered ones. |

Sahtogas has never been anything like a fortress since I've been there. The only reason it was unflippable was because corps like AVNG and KOZA actively patrolled and harassed, even in poorly translated Russian, any Minmatar that thought they could just casually farm up the contest rate. The events of last night just highlighted the sorry state of Amarr militia. Only three or four small corps represented, all of us lacking the will to accept heavy losses knowing no backup was coming. ILAW came at least but they were the only ones and it wasn't enough.
I guess the impact of Fweddit leaving never resonated as strongly within the militia as it should have. We're basically down to just small corps skirmishing and relying entirely on outside income because we really can't raise hundreds of millions of ISK in LP daily like the Minmatar can. To be frank, a lot of good pilots aren't just leaving FW, they're leaving the game altogether because of various grievances with the mechanics, the most pressing of which is the borked LP payout scheme (i.e. more LP for kiting a button than for earning a kill).
In the end, there were no winners yesterday. Sorry to speak on your behalf, WINMATAR, but there could only be one reason to show up for a hub bash with a combat doctrine. I know at least R.A.P.E. corporation threw most of our remaining ISK (earned with alts outside of the warzone, ofc) into an attempt to supply a strong combat fleet but our allied forces were few and bitter. It's a sorry state when we can't raise a decent combat fleet even on a weekend at the end of summer.
Maybe farmers will come and wrestle back some warzone control for Amarr, but the status quo outright sucks right now. Minmatar will have to settle for fighting SC and PL, and Amarr militia will likely continue to fall apart because we certainly don't have the will to keep farming plex for a pittance (because it's the only way to earn in FW, thanks CCP). |

Not really no but I didn't leave front for that. OF are great old mates, my first alliance and ever since then I've always had a soft spot for them.
So last night in my drunken rampage across the stars I was **** talking up local.... somewhere near sahtogas. I engaged a nado pilot in my trusty slicer and while getting dizzy nibbling his shields off waiting for his mates to turn up a minmatar Biohazard guy joined me in **** talking. Turns out sis is on the cards according to his local splurging (although my splurging was worse in fairness)! OMFG WHO KNEW THIS!!!!!!!
Anyway I had to bail from the nado as it got close to armour, he called in talwar buddy and I was like DAMN YOU LML SPEWING FRIGATE DEATH MACHINE.

A bit of both. FW is flawed. But you'd be a fool to think that the Minnie/Amarr theatre is the way it is because of economics. Your militia (certainly in the EU) is presently a dead loss, that's not because of farmers it's because of a lack of organisation and leadership.

In fairness I can't disagree with the bolded bit, minmatar militia are all still terrible though [insert thinly veiled reason why here].
On a side note your earlier post suggests that if I call a system you shall have it conquered in the name of the mighty minmatar. AWESOME. I shall get the dartboard ready so I can randomly pick one of the remaining amarr systems to be OMFGROFLstomped (which in an odd twist of fate is the name of corp in minmatar fw!)
Anyway, for what I can do I'll see if I can rustle up some kind of fight in the EU TZ. I think it's going to take some prodding and some pretty epic small gang **** to inspire everyone first mind you :P

Lead them to what? Massive plex farming expeditions?
The number of people that care was never high, and keeps dropping.
The current sov mechanics do seem to suit the minmatar more than the amarr. |

I haven't really paid much attention to FW stuff in the past 3-4 months, but I heard that the Minnies finally took Sahtogas so I wanted to say congratulations.

The minnie/amarr warzone is a direct result of economics, but not in the way that everyone assumes it is regarding farmers deciding who is winning, although you can very clearly tell when farmers have switched. You and I both know the level of organization certain things take and raw impact that groups can have regardless of farmers, but the farmer element combined with diagonal plexing still heavily obsfucates a lot of the public perception regarding the impact groups on each side have and the FW image to the greater EVE community in regards to how much impact each individual group actually has.
The relevance of your feature and how groups outside of your feature view it heavily impacts the number and kinds of new players that keep feeding in as old guard burns out or wants to try new things. If a new group joins and leaves after a few weeks because they become disenchanted with farmers from a diagonal militia, regardless of whose side it's on, thats a net loss for FW. Likewise, a lot of the external dialogue I hear from the non-FW community is "so and so is losing, should we join them?" usually replied with "nah, its all farmers, it'll flip back soon enough." Even something like "Amarr/Min just took fortress Arzad/Sahtogas" often gets replied with "who cares about FW, its all farmers."
Don't get me wrong, there are still tons of kills happening. I'm not declaring FW dead by any means. Smaller ships mean you can lose frigates until you run out rather than maybe a BC and couple cruisers, but I can't help but feel that our warzone as a whole is much more carebear than it used to be, with fewer opportunities for FCs to build up the kind of experience to get back up to the level it was when our groups were going at each other full force. The guys that joined before and during Inferno had a very different starting point and pre-existing experience they had built up under the old system. Whereas, people starting in FW now will find a slower path to build up to that same level of experience. Just because things run on a cycle doesn't guarantee the peaks are the same. I suppose time will tell.
At the very least, i'm glad I joined when I did. As much as the tendency was to look down on the other side, we sure did have some great fights against each other didn't we?

Oh my god now you've done it! In before rage threads about links, blobs, stabs, cloaks.... I certainly enjoyed being consistently welped and agree totally with your point about people joining FW now. I'm glad I joined when I did. |

Well, you know, I farm inanimate objects for isk and dock up whenever there is a war target or neutral in local. Its what I imagine being in the Minmatar militia is like
I think my experience is common to many people who have left or or thinking of leaving FW.
I always cared about sovereignty. Its what attracted me to FW as a two week old toon. That semi-roleplay aspect of us versus them wrestling for control of the warzone. So I always defended Amarr systems such as Sahtogas on principle as well as having fights (and this was in the days when defensive plexing didn't reward you with LP).
With the influx of farmers after Inferno you could still get good fights, like we did in Metro when we were fighting Ushra or you guys in Soft Angels, but more and more I found you had to grind out the sovereignty to defend your 'home' system. So you would log in and have to plex for an hour or so that Sahtogas and surrounds didn't get up too high before the EU and US timezones plexed it up again.
After we defended Sahtogas a second time and took Arzad, the AU timezone, I can't really speak for others, became pretty dead. I'd log in and find no fights except for the odd pirate and instead sit in plexes for a couple of hours trying and failing to reduce the damage done in other timezones, Quite simply it wasn't fun anymore. I started logging in less and when I did I rarely enjoyed myself. So I joined a new corp who were feeling exactly the same as I was and we all left FW. Now we rent in null and that, apparently, is the new black.
The break has made me realise just how broken FW is. I always was an opponent of the insane LP rewards you got in FW. They were too high and it was inevitable that it would be farmed or gamed. I've no problem with people who don't care about sovereignty or just want to fleet up and enjoy good fights on the Kam/Kourm gate (after all, most Amarr corps no longer even live in low sec and that in itself is a sad indictment of the state of the war zone). But if you do care about sovereignty then the grind is soul destroying.
TL:DR FW is becoming a place where sovereignty is worthless or a place where you drop an alt in both sides to fund your lifestyle elsewhere. That is f*cked.
By the way, good to see you playing and hope you are feeling better |

to be fair to minnie and amarr FW corps, both sides have done well in keeping certian systems, but in my opinion its not the actual corps that do anything its the farmers that switch sides once markets crash that control the warzone, with there cloaky stabbed ships. many a corp on both side work there asses off dplexing home constellations . also i have mad respect for some of the amarr corps tmfed being up there at number 1. i get along great with most of you guys. its a shame we cant go back to the all out war in plexes we had before the farmers took over

Thinnish was talking about the warzone not the home systems Max. He says so if you read 'but in my opinion its not the actual corps that do anything its the farmers that switch sides once markets crash that control the warzone'.
