Topic says it all I guess...
Is it worth putting one on in hopes of avoiding a mid-mission gank? Or am I just going to get scrammed or blobbed (i.e. multi-source points) anyway, so I should just use another damage mod instead of bothering with the Warp Core Stab? |

Honestly, the only time I use warp core stabs is when I'm travel-fitting a ship from one hangar to another, to get it in position. The hits you take to your targeting range and your scan resolution will cripple your ship in combat. You might be able to get away from hostiles (not guaranteed, either, if the tackler's got more points than you've got stabs), but your ship will be pretty much no good for anything else. I don't use them myself but if you've got high enough support skills to help make up for some of the loss in performance they aren't that crippling. Google vexor man tank. There are a few vids on YouTube of a guy with a shield tanked vex who uses wcs' in pvp. I don't know how many he wins with that fit as opposed to how often he runs but it certainly can be done. I have also spent a fair amount of time cursing at my monitor because a mission running tengu (or whatever) wad stab'd. If it wasn't worth it then people wouldn't do it, but they do.
Really, I think it comes down to how often your missions get interrupted. Do you have to warp out often because of gankers or combats on scan? If not then why worry about it? Which brings up another good point. If you're running missions in low sec and not spamming the d-scan on short range for probes then you're doing it wrong. |

FW plex: use of WCS is pretty standard. Lowsec missions: The use of 2 or more WCS would severely nerf mission battleships. The least affected are droneboats and FOF missiles. A rattlesnake or a fleetphoon could put them to use, but it would be really underwhelming in reality. The LP bonus from lowsec missions would not offset the loss in completion times most probably. Also, missioning would draw attention and realistically hold you back from flying efficiently every now and then.
A microjump Dominix would be more attractive for me than a warpstabbed -insertmissionboathere-. MJD allows escape from everything without a scram, especially when combined with Dominix drone power and a heavy neut.
For nullsec missions, id use the Dominix as well.

Personally, I wouldn't even bother. It'd be cool when you're in the mission sure and allow you to escape those dang NPCs. But if you warp into a warp scramble bubble you're screwed either way. We may not have the Biggest guns, or the tankiest Shields and we make our ships out of Duct Tape and Glass but.....
