Can people please try pingplotter (www.pingplotter.com) and save a few images, so that we can try to prove or disprove some of the rumours that are flying around about CTD's and internet latency/lag/packet loss...
I'm running it now, and have already seen something interesting where the Cable and Wireless routers that Blueyonder connect to seem to have a complete fritz, and redirect via wierd locations... I'm trying to get proof of this now.
btw, I'm hoping that the IP address that was provided in the general forum thread (157.157.139.1) is the correct one.... can someone please let me know if it's incorrect.

I bet there was just a CTD right? the cable and wireless routers just went kookoo-kaka

right, here's my info, for anyone who's listening, or wants to use it.
first are three pingplots of the normal connection to 157.157.139.1
19:29gmt - 19:37gmt
19:37gmt - 19:46gmt
19:46gmt - 19:55gmt
there's nothing much out of the ordinary here... apart from an average of 30-40% packet loss.... which strangely enough, only occurs at the destination IP...
that and there's a good proportion of the time when the ping failed (see the red bars at te bottom of the image)

now here's where things get interesting....
at about 19:58BST (18:58GMT), connection failed from zcr1-so-5-0-0.Londonlnt.cw.net to bcr1-so-3-0-0.London.cw.net
Initial re-direction
it then re-directed to dcr-loopback.Washington.cw.net which then found an alternative route (all over America and back to london)
Mid re-direction
After this event... which probably took 10-15 seconds, and could potentially have dropped peoples connection to the destination, it reverted back to the previous route, albeit with huge packet loss.
after re-connection
Now I'm not saying that this sort of thing happening is causing everyone's CTD, *BUT* it could be a factor in certain peoples problems.
feel free to lambast and flame me, this only took me an hour to compile, check and write. I hope its usefull to the more tech-savvy net-nerds out there ;)

Interesting I am also on telewest and similar problem.
Fine and dandy when on CW, but then something causes it to link across to NewYork and BOOM
CTD.

I do however thing the problem of packet loss at the destination needs a mention....
on avergae I got 30% packet loss, throughout the hour I logged the ping.. but this ranged from nothing to 80%, and even to complete ping failure... when there was no other packet loss on the entire trip.
I'm not sure the cause, but it certainly needs looking at from CCP's end IMHO

Over on netgate.net they indicated that the eve game server has been under a denial of service attack for some time.
This explains the situation entirely. The site is under a DOS attack and is still usable. Says something for those who know networking.
