but maybe they kept so ugly raven so that when you fly it those nebulas look more awesome... contrast is a thing... but then... raven looks more like ugly garbage...

The ship design of the Raven is fine, as with most ships in EVE, but the texturing is terrible and dated.
I'm looking forward to an up to date Raven. |

The Raven is Iconic, a massive rework would be doing it a disservice. I liked that the focus is mostly on the back end since the current one just kind of ends in the back and never looked finished. A new texture will add to it but an entire overhaul is certainly not needed. Don't like it? Don't fly it :) |

I do believe the back of that Raven model is sexy as hell.
In fact, I've always liked the Raven a lot and was fearing it's change, but this is definitely a lot better. |

I rather like the overall look of the Raven. My biggest gripes with the old model was the lobsided wings and that the model wasn't centered along its central axis (running from the cockpit to the main engine.
I'd just absolutely love it if the new model had generally even wings. Same overall size, but different indentations and protrusions scattered about. Balanced asymmetry, as it were. |

Asymmetry isn't always ugly, but it is in this case, how about making it slightly less asymmetrical with every iteration?
The Kestrel for example, isn't symmetrical, neither is the Ishkur, but they're both good looking ships... Big ships, however, need to be symmetrical.

If I understood "Basement Ben" a big part of the new nebula will be the ability to see the nebula of one system from another system. That's extremely cool. It ratchets up the realism a bit, which is always good. Right now each system seems like it exists outside of every other system in the New Eden universe.
Seeing/knowing that your destination is in the direction of "Second star to the right, and straight on til morning" is +cool.

I agree, I suspect that a lot of people don't remember very well what the original scorp looked like. It made me sad flying it. It was lament incarnate. The raven is simply not an automatically aesthetically pleasing shape.
Also remember that the raven is an iconic model, and they have a warehouse full of IRL models of it, so they can't change it too dramatically :P
To be honest, most of the ships in eve just need the loving high res treatment, I'm glad its being dished out. |

lol that funky looking mic is not just a mic... its a mc and a recorder there Guard! :) i know i have one sitting on my table for recording sounds and stuff on location or interesting stuff i might use in audio post production.
wouldnt have used it to record someone walking around and talking tho but to each his own! u should tell those wacky AV kids u got to go out and get themselves a boom mic holder and fuzzy boom shield.

But what about the stars? If I'm in Botane will I be able to see the star in the Dodixie system? If I go to the Dodixie stargate and sight in the direction it points, will I see the Dodixie star?
Will the stars in the background be the stars we go to, properly placed in the background given their location in the Eve star cluster, and with their correct color and brightness?

^^ i think its gonna be a case that the nebulae are gonna be the feature focal points that are the reoccuring themes in all the starfields... the rest of the stars (for now) will prob be from a generic starmap.
tho i really hope CCP is gonna bump up the starfield depth and play around some more with getting some star clusters in there rather than a very evenly diffused starfield.... hint hint =) |
