Played on Werner, quit when BFR's came along. Theyre way too overpowered, nerf 
Was good fun, but vehicles became obselete because a group of 5 of them sittin outside a base would bbq anything.

Used to play on Emerald (KONREID 4TW!). My outfit (The Trimmers) was one of the more established outfits on the server there for a while, until the game got old and redundant. They just have a lack of good dev's willing to stay with the game now. Its used more of a stepping stone I believe.

i player on PS but on East coast sever. ATM just got upo and cant remember the name. Oh and The People left because of the BFR there been nerted alot. Now u can kill them easy etc :P

PS was my life for a long time. I loved it. You can't find bigger PVP battles anywhere on the net. BF2, just doesn't have the scale of a 300 person battle. And a noob could pwn a Vet right out of the gate, it was all about skill.
Then the (better) RPG's came out that I liked. I finally let PS go when they put in the frelling "Fanta" and "Coca Cola" ads. Completely blew immersion for me. That, and Galaxies was just not fun anymore either, so I dumped my station pass and redirected the funds back over here to EvE.
PS was a great time when I played, those ads just really blew it, and I have yet to see them help improve anything in the game. Hell, the main website is barely ever even updated. Sad really, probably gonna be dumped by Sony soon.

I played from beta untill last november on Markov.
good times, but the game just lost it's luster when I discovered eve.

yer i agree. I think its going to go in a year. Dark Skyes an outfit was large and best outfit in PS i think but even most member left PS playing EVE and WOW. Its going down fast i think. Lazy Dev ruined it i think

Heh, I like it aslong as it lasts for now, I like the battles and the way they make you think you use tactics to conquer bases.. but actually just is mindless shooting lol

108th tower capture outfit.
cyssors bridge battles and foreserals bases in the cross was my fa battle grounds.
we also use to be the angels of the battle.
you needed a ant in and they had a seige on every enterance we was the people to call.

Planetside was the king of big scale battles(Gunuku on Cyssor anyone before the huge population drops of the BFR release), imo no game will ever pull off some of the joy i had in planetside.
id love to see a open ended game like EVE but with real time PVP like planetside. imagine fleet battles with fighters flown by players with joysticks and battleships with guns controled not by AI but by players.

Oh yeah Gunuku used to be so much fun. The BFR's really ruined the game though, both in gameplay and because of the population drop after they were released.
Still nothing could beat the 200 vs 200 base battles of the old days, or outfit raids from the sanctuary. Just one giant armor column with dozens of tanks and aircraft rolling through a warpgate =D

i was never good at close in fighting though, i was probally one of the most deadly phoenix and 25mm(Liberator Tailgun) users and a high precision Galaxy/Lodestar pilot. it was allways amazing how under used the lodestar was for when one as out in the field the armor push was allways stronger.

a year or more ago i was trying out planetside, was quite good and funny warfare game until i have seen those bfr in action. They run and jump around like some anime cartoon transformers and that totally blew away the immersion of it, so i quit

planetside beta was the most fun I've ever had in a game. Back then before they split up sanc you'd have 8-10 galaxies flying overhead at all times and finding parking space for your gal was a PITA.
Oh and the craziest battle ever? The join NC/TR assault on the VS pushing us back to just 8 bases before they put in the pop cap on the servers and they were using the good ones. We had over 800 people crammed into just 8 bases that we had fortified to hell and back. My outfit was part of the contingent covering every inch of southern esamir with CE. Reavers would get instapopped going anywhere near the front lines and we had AMSes set up near all the points. Then the NC rolled 10+ vanguards against that base in central esamir while dropping 5 galaxys worth of troops ontop of us at the same time and the server crashed resetting all our CE :( Holding the line with over 50 ppl along the wall all with lancers shooting at a wall of vehicles comming towards you was insanely fun.

Ohh planetside, good old happy days... Played as CR5 on werner for Terren. In over 2 and a half year, left when they the made those awfull BFR

Same for me...I used to love to snipe but you couldn't do it anymore without a giant robot landing on your head every 2 minutes. That said, some of the PS nostalgia in this thread almost makes me want to try it again.

Hrm, I was playing with Sturmgenadier in PS beta as VoOd. I lived that game for a while. We had some great battles. I wonder if SG was part of some of these fights you mention?

I was very fund of flying Reavers and driving Lightnings, but well that wasent possible at all after BFR. I admit those BFR was fun to use, causs you could kill everyone else who wasent in one. The flying version was very fun to use also... When someone killed my BFR, i always sended em a congrazz mail 
Problem was that BFR just made any other vehicle useless and so many left causs of that. I hate em for that...
Planetside was the best game ever, best fun i ever had was the first "monolit" event we had. Ohh boy that was great, even thou my empire lost it.

Used to play it from late beta to a good while into core combat.
Werner most of the time, only on the other servers whenever NC-command decided to invade one of the other servers ;]
Came back for a short period of time (over a weekend :P), but was nothing without my old clan :)
How i miss roaming towers and bases with my scattercannon :[
Never used anything but MAX.
Had many good times in it, always enjoyed giving support at the back/tower entrances when attacking, going headfirst with shields up through the door after it was hacked, clearing out most if not all of the people defending the door, at least when it was the base being defended, with towers it was mostly only good chunks of the blobs ;P

I miss planetside... awesome was the only world to describe those battles...
New conglemerate were teh uberz... Cant remember the name of their tank but it was awesome. I remember ganging up with my outfit with about 16 of us in them to go out hunting... We were just like BOB, ganked the **** out of everyone 
I also remember starting about 20 new players though... It took so long to get better vechiles once you were fully established level wise...

*Sigh* Was in early Beta. I remember that time as one of my best times in gaming, that is before EVE came along.
I remember when we first crashed the Beta servers, fighting on Cyssor? with a big battle going on across that long bridge?.
I think about about 5 or more devs showed up and were just ecstatic that
1) they were able to test the load in such a small area,
2) that a battle with 200+ people with aircraft, tanks, rockets, shells, and beams criss-crossing was the dream they envisioned.
I think it was the only time in gaming I've ever laughed out loud from the amount of fun I was having.
And after playing CS and DoD, PS with that many people (200+) and what I was seeing was a sight to behold.
I remember sitting on that high ridge shooting rocket after rocket at the enemy. One minute our side would make the rush, then get slaughtered 1/2 way across, then the other team would try and rush with the same results...it went on for a good hour before it crashed.
*sigh*
Played for 2 months after release...was fun but I got back into CS and then really heavy into DoD.
Retried PS about a year ago, picked up all the expansions for like $10, played hardcore for about 1 1/2 months, but I never seen the same kind of battles as that first time, then I dropped my subscription.
Yes, because the BFR's ruined it.
I cant tell you how many times I was slaughtered trying to defend the walls while 3-5 BFRs stood on a ridge and bombarded the base. They were just way too over balanced.
Ohh well SOE's loss.

Yeah planetside is an example of how a perfectly good game with so much potential is ruined by a bad company. It seems they laid off 90% of the dev team and didnt fix the main flaw, redudant base design, but instead kept doing SOE style expansions with useless content.

i used to play planetside, MAXSuicide/TKSuicidal on werner, TRSuicidal and VSSuicidal on emerald if i remember correctly.
MAXSuicide was my max suit alt on there, but then it became my main, joined loxy's outfit, joined eve, used the same name so peeps in the clan knew who i was etc etc.
Ive been back and forth from planetside, i left it just after core combat (god that expansion sucked badly) came back on their anniversary thing when they activated everyone's accounts for free, played again for a few months, then quit again as it got boring, then BFR's were released and i remember thinking 'they are supposed to be fixing the game not destroying it more!' but came back a few months after bfr release with a trial accoutn first, found out BFR's wont so bad after all, came back with my mains again for a few months before getting bored and leaving again

Core Combat wasnt too bad, BFRs basicly cooked that game's goose. id say 80% of the population didnt want them, we wanted a small air transport smaller then the galaxy a Huey if you will and we got mechs. =x
