Edited by: MAXIUM MINING on 19/08/2003 20:31:29 Explain the logic behind this. Everyone here is a paying customer and has every right to whine when CCP is not providing the service they paid for. This isn't the beta anymore. We are an whiners but angery customers. Get it straight. In the beta we are beta tester, we had agreed to volenter our time to test a product that we knew was buggy. I didn't read anything about back to back CTD's and poor customer service anywhere on the EVE box when I bought it. Well in fact almost nothing in the EVE manual or on the EVE box has been delivered. This isn't the game most ppl thought they were buying. Which my be why we have a steady drop in players over the last month.
How about at least a new post by the DEV team expalin all this stuff and maybe a be patient message or something. Instead of that silence CCP always seems to give the player base when something is up.

So, what your saying is, people are allowed to ***** on and insult the mods/polaris/GMs/devs/CCP as much as they want, but its wrong to show them some support? Get a life. I agree with the mods 99% of the time and to all the people *****ing about how the mods lock all the threads about CTDs and stuff but not the standard forum offenses has it occured to you its YOUR FAULT?
Spamming all the time about the same topic is not good, and if people botherd to read the forums topics and post in an EXISTING THREAD about the topic they are interested in, then maybe the mods would be able to focus on the bog standard forum offences.

See, the reason Josh uses that signature is well... look at him for a moment. Take a close look. He has a lazy eye, and his nose is specially made pointing so it can get in there as deep as it can... real brown like.
I still don't understand how he is able to keep his sig image, considering it says the word 'mod' and anyone who says mod gets slapped with a *click*. My image didn't say mod and it's not allowed, ohh... I think I know why. But I'm not allowed to discuss any complaints, or concerns like that, because it's prohibited.
I'm hoping things are changing, I'm talking to Pann about this issue... still waiting for a reply, but we'll see what happens.

Gonna try for the full house, Indesin?
My signature stays until I'm bored of it or one of the Mods tells me to remove it.

The logic is that many people are as sick of the contant whining about CCP's "bad customer service" as they are about the customer service itself. If you dont like the game, or CCP, or the mods, or anything else about this game, you have the option to stop playing and stop paying. Just because you pay $13 a month does not give you the right to spam the boards with 50 threads all saying basically the same thing: "WAAAHHAHAAA I dont like problems and cant deal with them". Its not like CCP ISNT aware of the problems. Do you really think that YOUR thread is going to be the one that makes them say "holy crap... I guess we better fix this stuff"
Take a step away from the keyboard, shake yourself, maybe have a cold one. And then ask yourself where is the logic in continuing to complain if it is not going to help the situation ?

The main problem here is that the mods only use the rules hwen they are convenient.
If they enforce the rules consistently I would have *no* problem with that. But if they only do that when it is convenient they only hide behind the "rules" to push their own agenda. And then they mustn't be surprised that other players don't follow the rules either way.
To steal the pharse from the GM-killing thread: "Just because you can do something doesn't mean you must do it." That goes for the players as well for the devs mods.
Joshua Calvert's sig is pretty clear a "discussion of the moderation", which is not allowed according to forum rules, so remove it.
He can mail his hugs and kisses to the mods if he wants to.

Edited by: Joshua Calvert on 19/08/2003 21:43:02 You can constructively criticise, complain, flame, and make personal attacks all you like.
Until the moderators say differently, this signature is following the rules and it stays put.
If it is found to be breaking the forum rules I'll gladly accept that and get myself a new signature.
Seriously, people, you need to find something else to do with your lives other than search franticly for something to complain about.

Hate to say it indesin but your sig will more than likely get changed again because it again is discussing board moderation.
Why not grow up just a bit and stop with the tantrums?
By the same account would you like every bit of business communication you wrote to be posted on a public web site? That way 5000+ people could nit pick it and criticize it?
Doesn't sound like fun to me.
You would do well to handle this in a slightly more mature fashion. If indeed resolution is what you're after. If you're after ****ing off your service providers then by all means keep it up I believe you are doing that quite well.

Well my dear Jehova, if my statement "Why don't you stop fueling my fire?" was a flame... surely her statement "Why don't you grow up just a bit and stop throwing tantrums?" was also considered a flame? Or are the board rules only tight for certain individuals?
Sure I included the word ***** in my reply... but that's allowed isn't it? Considering the active thread with the word *****ING included in the topics title.

What if some people thinks that CCP and the GM's, and the mods ARE doing a good job?
I'm a moderator myself, on a forum with over 30 000 members. And I can tell you, it's not easy. This forum is ten times worse - I understand the mods and I don't think they are doing a bad job.
Btw it's quite funny. On "my" forum most people are 14 year-olds playing CS. On this forum most are grownups, many has families.
But I see so much more whine and criticism that it NOT constructive here...how can that come?
This is my signature. |

Edited by: Ana Khouri on 19/08/2003 22:35:26 One question - please explain to me why asking the mods to follow the rules uniformly and not lock this and keep another is not constructive?
How come that threads when the moderation is criticized are locked - sometimes flamed, granted, but threads where people speak in the most civilized tone about what they seem is wrong get locked as well - while others which, support them are not?
The mods post again and again "forum moderation is not to be discussed" (something which isn't in the rules btw) - but that goes for negative as well as positive comments. But crticism get#s locked and a "thumbs up" doesn't? Again - why? Rules are rules - even for mods.
Or change it to "forum moderation is not to be crticized"...

do you people honestly believe that the mods here read *every* post? you have to be nuts.
Mods are doing a great job in my opinion trying to do things and not get stuck in the forums forever, lets face it - whould you rather have a mod/dev/whatever to be here all day, or doing something constructive with/in the game?

LOL dude. Mods are not GMs and they are not DEVs. No programing to do or unstucking of ppl ingame.
Anyway I am just confused how the rules work and how the mods make their decisions. Also can someone give me a link to all these unwritten rules.

you dont know what youre talking about. most of the ctd's are from losing connection to the server, which is because of the blaster worm's effect on the net in the past week.

Well...could've been put more eloquently, but he's right. Connection to CCP's servers is more than just end-user/server. There is not a magical line that connects one person's workstation directly to a server in London...there are many network devices along the way that can be affected. BlasterWorm is not just an excuse: it's very real and is having nasty effects on the world wide web.
However, all of this "grow up" "shut the hell up" and other negative comments are just begging for moderators to come and do the very thing that you folks complain about. Ah, well...

Moderating a board or a mailing list is a difficult job.
Do you honestly think a small team of volunteers has the time to read every single post in every single thread?
Come on! Look at the amount of activity on here!
Just because you pay a monthly sum to use this game does not give you the right to tell the mods how to do their jobs.
It does not give you the right to abuse them, call them names, or make fun of them when, in your opinion, they have done something 'wrong', or when you disagree with them.
These are CCP's forums, run as they want them to be run. It is up to them to decide how to police them, and it is up to you to abide by their rules.
You have 2 choices: - push them, and suffer the consequences - go elsewhere
The people complaining about moderation here don't seem to be able to grasp that - they continue to push the mods, and continue to post here at the same time.
I just can't comprehend the confusion that must exist in someone's head to do that.
Bizarre, I say.
If you think that the forum moderation is so poor - start your own forums. It's easy enough, quick enough, and simple enough to do.
But it's always easier to step up and cry "Look at me! I've been *abused*! Waaaah!" than to get your finger out and try and do better.
And quite why you think that sticking up for people doing a thankless task should in any way be treated the same as hurling abuse at them is really beyond me.
It's a game, and this is just a website. If you can't see beyond that, you really do have some problems.
Cheers, TOM

I did. The mods seem to be lumping "discussion of moderation" in with the "Private communication between the Game Masters, Eve Team members, moderators and administrators of the forum and the forum users" rule. At least thats how it was explained to me when I was trying to find out why my signature kept getting deleted.
