Henry Haphorn wrote:Probably a fake. It looks butt ugly though. It looks like someone took a Caldari drone and beefed it up a bit.
Most likely not a fake. ;)
Same thing happened when the new Maller was posted on these forums months before it popped up on the test server. Everybody called it a fake due to the sub standard textures and design.
But as with the Maller, I'm assuming this one was also rendered with an 3rd party app for display and does not include the actual textures and materials.
On another note, if you look at it from the side it has many of the same characteristics of the Caracal's hull in how the main body connects to the cockpit thingy. |

Wait a sec... Sarmatiko is the SAME person who posted the Maller model leaks also that I mentioned above.
I'm pretty much 100% convinced its real now. |

Oh that sucks.. Really liked this one too. Prior to the Maller model changing, it was Sarmatiko who posted the models months beforehand. Was hoping the fact that he found it would mean this one was legit too.
Xercodo wrote:Oooooo
Since he labeled it as cf2 im inclined to believe he might have pulled it form SiSi
but then again im rusty on ship file name naming conventions...
Yeah cf2 is the Condor in the data file. Checked with triexporter a min ago to make sure.
On another note! That new Raven model in the CCP peek into the art department vid is looking cool. |

Ok well this is odd.
As much as I would love to say Sarmatiko is just crazy, I cannot. Main reason being that I have now with my own eyes seen this crow model in one of the official patch builds as well.
Not saying that means anything though. Maybe CCP for some reason is pushing player created content into patches for testing? No way to know for sure I guess. But the .red file is there and everything. :)

Looks like a ccp model, on a ccp content patch... must be a ccp model! Maybe? I am so confused.
Yeah Im pretty confused as well... But thats nothing new.
No way for us to know for sure, and it's one of those "have to wait and see" situations. |

Nova Fox wrote:okay that was a normal map layer slapped on along with the dark and light mapping one as well... this does bring it up to par.
Yeah it made a big difference.
It's actually listed under the same ID code as the Condor with an _A added onto the end. |

Hey hybrids aren't looking too bad with the current test numbers, and if they stay that way then the Raptor may actually be less useless. ;) |

If its not, then a ninja was able to sneak it into the patch build that I pulled it out of without CCP noticing. :P |

Bryant21 wrote:Any way we can get an update on this Navigator? (Or anyone else in CCP)
Give it a few days..
Those that have extracted the crow model (myself included) found it in the build that is SUPPOSED to go live on the test server this week.
Once that happens, we can check and see if it is in fact still in that build.
Edit: Or I am assuming it is supposed to go live this week. It has the new Nebula in it. CCP said last week that the nebula should be live on SISI in the following week. (now this week) |

CCP Atropos got in contact with me over the weekend to correct my mistake here. Apparently this was not a player created ship and was a prototype model created by our own art department. I really do apologize for giving you guys misleading information. Someone, and I will not say who, had told me the wrong information to begin with so I am correcting this for you as it is the right thing to do.
Thanks for the update Navigator. |

Even better with the proper rendering from the .red file numbers. :)

To be honest, even after Navigator said it was player created, I assumed he was mistaken. Sarmatiko isn't known to post fakes. |

I think those are actually supposed to be missile launchers.
When you you have the model opened in in MAYA or 3DS and zoom in you can see what appear to be launch tubes. |

Whats the bummer part 4? If you think it looks good then aren't you happy to find out it was in fact a CCP model and not player made? ;) |

Eh the model is around the same size as the Condor Hull.
I put them side by side to check. |

Alright, I rendered the two side by side in various positions to give people a better idea of the size comparison.

Logan LaMort wrote:Really nice. I like the current Condor, the asymmetry gives it a kind of charm but this new model is definitely a worthy successor.
I do agree the current hull has something going for it.
Would love to see them incorporate a mixture of that with the new in terms of the asymmetry. |

Ranger 1 wrote:Shawn Pierce wrote:Khorian wrote:What is that in the front? A cockpit? Looks like a Fighter or Bomber. For a Frigate its way too small. The Condor model already has a cockpit, as do most Caldari frigates. About half the frigates in the game have cockpit canopies. Also keep in mind that the "cockpit" area actually is probably more accurately described as the "command deck" area, and could easily be a few stories tall (covering perhaps multiple floors). We are just preconditioned to expect something like that to be a cover over a single pilot (or two) like it is in fighters.
Haven't realty compared but, it's also possible that Caldari frigates (as with every other class of Caldari ship) are much smaller than the ships of the same size classification of the other races. |

Its still in the build as it was when we first posted pictures of it. I did notice they updated the dds textures. The crow is listed as cf2, and this ship is under cf2a.
Anyhow.. go further back into the thread. It was confirmed as a ccp design. (Not A surprise siince it was pulled straight from the Res package).
They just didn't confirm as to what they plan on doing with the model.
How did this thread get revived anyhow? This entire discussion thread spawned well before the winter expansion.
This is it with it's actual textures... I used the numbers from the red file to build the material to get an idea as to what it would look like in-game.
