I've never had any spam.
Hold on.
Does repeated begging letters from Jade Constantine and Halo Jones for romantic moonlight spacewalks around the Yulai starsystem count as spam?

Oh yeah, by the way, as far as I am concerned you opt-in when you hit "yes" on the EULA page, so it's your responsibility to opt-out if you so desire.

If I could, I would.
Really. I'm that angry at them. There is a spammer who registered a domain name very similar to one which I administer, and I get all the fallout of his spam. One of these days, something bad is going to happen to him when he offends someone less lovable and even-tempered than I am (believe it or not, such people DO exist), and I will laugh my ass off, no matter how gruesome the spammer's fate is.
Ever notice how a criminal will set a world record in a sprint to hide behind a cop when consequences come a-knockin'?
If bad things started happening to spammers, then there would be a whole lot less spam.
Back to the immediate topic...
One of the previous posters had it right... "Disable Corp-Mail" should be an option, with "Disabled" as the default state when your character is created. Enable it every time you join a corp from that point forward, plus have an option to toggle it at any point.

there is a perfectly acceptable place for Trapline to post his newsletter and for corps to recruit. all players, noobs and vets alike, have access to it and noobs MUST know how to use it or they would not be able to create their EVE account in the first place.
you are looking at it right now.

Quote: How can ppl get so worked up about such an issue? You should try adopting that attidute at work (if you work) and wonder why you never get promoted......
You refer to work... well, my e-dress at work is linked to an e-dress on my company's website. Hence, I get a lot of SPAM all through the day and the trouble is that I need to at least take a peek at it before I delete them, even autodeleted ones I need to skim in case there's a proper one in there.
So, I get worked up because of it at work, I get SPAM at my personal e-dress as some people were careless with my addy. I do not want to deal with SPAM in EVE. In case of "Trap" I could just block that alt if that's the only one SPAMming (he's not in my newbie Corp), but the people I need to deal with change alt's like daily underwear and there's no way I can keep them all out.
It's a problem, CCP needs to do something about it. From now on I'll file Harassment Petitions on each and every person until CCP puts in better features to block SPAM.
Just because we are paranoid, doesn't mean you're not out to get us. |

Remove the option to send corp message in npc corps, that way the problem is solved. Learn the difference between opt-in and opt-out mass messaging. There is no excuse, kill it
