Giving the return to drone bay command to drones, causes some drones to return to ship at the blistering speed of 1 m/s.

Yea, drones are bugged when it comes to speed anyways. This happened to me too with a light drone.
I wish CCP would finally acctually fix drones instead of just throwing more skills at us...

as someone mentioned before - sharpshooter make it worse. they stop further out for each level that you up it. though if you 'approach' one of you drones when you call em all back... they will all jump right in. __ Assault Ship need 4th Bonus and More!

Drones often fly slower than they should, light drones flying to their target at the amazing speed of 400 m/s slower than a bs lol
And yes most of the times 2 of them are unable to return to drone bay (you have to approach them).
That is especially bad when the drones are beeing shot at, or when you're in need of switching from medium to light drones to kill that damn scrambler.

Ah, so that's what's going on. I was wondering why drone return to bay has only gotten worse after patch.
Very annoying.

aye - if they would just bite bullet and make scoop range like 4km, it would simplify so many things (coding included)... __ Assault Ship need 4th Bonus and More!

I had the smae problem, however I've found that if you do not issue any command the drones will return and orbit your ship at 800-900m on their own. Once all are within the 1600m scoop range you can just select scoop to drone bay. I don't have any of the new drone skills, so results may vary....but this works on light, medium, and heavy drones. Hope this helps.

they wouldnt be drones if they werent bugged. I cant imagine them ever being fixed. At least now i dont have 8 bugged drones, i now only have 5 bugged drones at a time.

There are no drone bugs.
If anything, they're features!

My biggest problem with the drone return issues is that it makes larger drone bays very difficult to use for multiple sorties. When mining I keep a combat group as well as a mining group. If I'm mining and NPC rats show up, it's often a nightmare to get them back so I can launch my combat drones.
As a career Naval EW engineer there is no logical reason for a drone (or UCAVs in my case) to take its sweet time returning to base after an Op. If it can fly towards an objective at X m/s it should darn well come home at its best possible speed, barring in-flight collisions of course.
The fact that return behavior is inconsistent for me with light vs. med and heavy drones really drives me nuts. The lights seem to fly back at high speed and dock while the med/hi drones close extremely slowly if at all. I often find it slightly more effective to order them to return and orbit, and then scoop them. It doesn't always work though and definitely shouldn't be that tedious.
I wouldn't have any issue with slower drone speeds if it was a function of hull damage. Oops, I shouldn't give CCP more nerf ideas

Seriously this little "Feature" has been around for ages... and CCP should move it up near the top of the priority tree to stomp on it before it gets any worse.
I have a suspicion that it issomehow related to lag, when the server is busy, my drones fart around like nuckleheads, when it's empty, I have far fewer issues withthem in general.
Also I coudl be wrong, but I think CCP has some hidden logging going on in the background again to track possible errors with various things which contributes to CPU (player side) lag. Say warping to a gate, even with logging turned off in the ESC menue, and so on, tends to cause hiccups, launching drones... Initiating agression against almost anything... I am well aware I have no idea what I'm talking about, but it sure feels like thats the case.
I feel it ISN'T server lag, because my PC is the bit that feels stuck and bottlenecked, not the server (when it's the server you generaly get wierd rebound effects - IE your ship flying backwards for a second or something - as your game is synched to the servers version of the game, when it's client side lag, you get sounds which skip/repeat/hang, and frozen screen for XX miliseconds or longer. Then pop into your synchronized state sometimes in a very disorienting fashion).
So something, and I doubt it's just graphics related, is sucking on CPU, and databasing/logging can be notorious for causing hiccups in almost any game especialy stuff thats Client side oriented (why it's a good idea to turn off that log chat to file button in the Esc menu, I think there used to be another, but I can't seem to find it anymore.).
