[5] Thank alot for the info... Thinking about creating an in game News Corp. If I can get the ingame browser to work. It would have: -Pirate forcast -War correspondants -Mining news -Corporation profiles -Famous person interviews -Editorials -Financial News -Equipment Reviews And most importantly Advertising, yes corps would pay to have thier ad run. I'm not sure it would work but I think it could generate enough ISK from advertising to keep itself profitable. After all the ingame journalist/correspondants would be flying frigates (which are cheap). -Prev Huttah! |

[17] I will indeed need journalists but have to get the tech bit sorted out first...and that takes time. I will get the corp up and running in the near future. I will post in recruiting forum when that is ready. -Prev Huttah! |

[21] Can the in-game browser support forms using the POST method from a free site like angelfire, tripod, geocitites, etc? If so is there anything special I need to put in the code to submit the form informaton? |

[23] Edited by: Matalino on 11/12/2006 14:23:05 CGI, ASP, Perl and such are handled on the server side. The in-game browser doesn't care how the HTML is created just as long as there is not anything fancy in it like JavaScript. POST forms work fine. As a tip on using the forums, thread necro'ing (reposting in old/dead threads) is concidered bad. It would have been better to create a new thread with your question and optionally link to the older thread(s). You will also find alot more information about building stuff for the IGB in the Tech Forum. Good luck on your project. |

[25] The IGB supports several eve specific feature. First it can relay in game information to the server through headers that include your character id, current location and other information. The page can also contain links to items, characters and other Show Info boxes. There are other eve specific functions of the IGB. While I agree that the IGB can use some improvements, taking away these game specific features to add yet another generic web browser to your system is not the solution. If you need a normal browser, use one out of game. The in game browser has specific specifications that make it useful for simple ingame tools as opposed to generic web sites. |

[26] Well nothing is perfect and I rather alter my coding to make it work than have them change everything and have to relearn thier server side coding to make it work with my client-side coding. I like it the way it is. Do I think it could be improved? Of course it would be sweet to have it work more like a regular out of game web browser but that would also bring in vulnerabilities people could exploit and with a MMO as EVE is I think if they did allow more access it could potentially cause further complications and vulnerablities. Right now you can create a good site with little knowledge on website design to work with the IGB. |
