Hey I'm new to EVE, but I always hear about how easy it is to make money comparatively to what the game used to be like. Can anyone shed some light on these 'easy' ways to make money?

Piracy? Oh, yea, extortion or asking for protection fees. Find Uncle Ikvar or Uncle Verone for tips^^
Player courier mission is pretty good for newbs, 1M collateral, 6 jumps, 100k. Sounds about good.
Be somebody's agent caddy. They kill NPCs, you go collect loot for them.
Whine a little and beg a bit, dont over do it helps as well.

Not all player courier missions are a scam -- I did around a dozen, and only one looked a little scammy: pulling rare NPC objects out through a heavily-ganked route, running the risk of losing the substantial escrow. I lost some ships and implants, but *still* made good money on it.
Another way is to use the market: find things that are sometimes sold cheaper in one region than bought in an adjacent region. I got enough of a stake from buying and selling at a 30-40% profit to get into the POS business.

Complexes. During my trial period I made over 10m ISK a day in a Slasher. RMR changed loot drops though, i'm not sure if thats still possible or not.

ignore hippoking i quite often setup low sec courier missoins for players (mostly low value like minerals i cant be bothered to shift) simply use a alt or join a corp split the rewards (scout) - anything over 300% collateral is a thing to watch for as are heavily ganked routes otherwise they can be quite profitable Im a happy little camper now - CCP 4tw. |

Can people still scam you on courier missions?
It used to be that they could cancel the mission after you accepted and paid collateral, but before you completed the mission. You ended up with the crappy stuff that was in the package, with no way to deliver it, and they ended up with your collateral. ______________________________________________

If i can't be bothered to go get it or can't etc then i set up a good courier mission remotely, mostly they are completed within 24 hours.
if u think about it if they can pilot a bb they can make 3 trips for almost a mill isk wont take too long
oh and yes final jump is in 0.4 in this case
oh and not that i ever tried scamming cause i do actually want to get stuff delivered but they fixed this now.

for new players there are trade routes in each hub system area that will net you a few million every 2 days or so.
the two easy ones are
1 frozen plant seeds. close to each hub there will be a system that will buy for 97 or so. this is a permanent npc buy and will never change. around each of the hub systems you can buy for 63. they provide limited numbers before the sell price goes up. around 6M worth every 2 days or so at max.
2 soil. same deal as plant seeds, but a bit further and larger space needed with better payout.
there are others i am sure, but it gets tiresome and boring work after a short time even if you can make over a million an hour.
only skills you need are race industrials. higher the better.
missions are a good guide guide to starting the game integrating making isk with learning fighting, skills and the market.

Edited by: Clytamnestra on 04/01/2006 17:03:39 I'm pretty new and I'm making a lot of money both trading and ratting. Trading is fairly simple - find a place which sells stuff cheap, and another that buys the same stuff for a higher price. Crunch the numbers and take the route which gives you the best buck per jump.
When I can't find a good route in my region (they come and go quickly, you need to jump at them) I travel the belts in my favorite systems looking for rat spawns. It's a pretty steady profit, but now and then you get rare spawns - like NPC haulers. They can net you a nice little profit.
Edit: Just wanted to add - the game's all about "risk vs. reward" and "don't fly what you can't afford to lose". That's it.

A good way to get money for little effort is to ask for it.
This does though, cause a lot of anger towards you, flames, laughs, suggestions and is all in all a bad way to do it.
So....anyone got ISK?
