So I'm coming back from a bit of an EVE haitus and was reading about all the ship changes coming in 1.1. The more I read of the inbound HAC changes, the tighter my pants seemed to feel. I couldn't wait to jump into an Ishtar and spew wonderful drone filled pain...
And then I saw the new paint job.
What happened? The Ishkur apparently got the same treatment. Both CreoDron ships went from a lovely verdant shade of green to being the color of not-quite-ripe blueberries
I'll be honest, this post is born mostly of the fact that I'm personally not happy with the change, and those who do like it are entitled to their opinion. It does though raise the issue of determining ship cosmetic changes, as I know there have been some pretty universally reviled makeovers (Gallente Navy camo springs to mind). It doesn't seem unreasonable to propose that changes to ship models or color schemes be put to a CSM-like vote through the account login screen. It isn't nearly as delicate and issue as actual ship balance, so I don't see the harm in allowing one vote per account. After all, shouldn't us players do what we can to ensure that we're happy with the ship we will inevitably be starting at for hours on end?
Such a referendum could follow a similar structure:
[Insert ship name] is under cosmetic review, if you wish to vote, please select one of the following options.
- New appearance #1 - New appearance #2 - Leave the ship as is
Obviously this isn't an issue (if you can even call it that) nearly as deserving of dev attention as ones that actually effect gameplay, but I thought it was a point worth bringing up. Thoughts? |

It seems like a lot of work to put into something rather trivial, but it's something I would definitely used if implemented. |

Don't care much about how ships look, I'd rather CCP focus on gameplay and actual content.

as to the OP, dont hold your breath, the Fed-Comet lost its police-paint, and it will never ome back. just be glad you arent stuck with bloody awful space-camo, whoever thoughtt hat crap made up for not being able to think of an actual paint-scheme needs to be shoved out an airlock. |

Color is the least of the issues with ship aesthetics. Let's have a referendum on making these ships look like something that could actually fly through space! Half of them look like busted pieces of bigger ships that should fly apart when making a slow turn. The Blackbird almost gives me epilepsy. |

The Blackbird almost gives me epilepsy. right, you do realize a "realistic" look fro something designed SOLELY for flying in space, would literally be a square with thrusters on each side? considering in deeper space gravity and inertia on your ship is weak enough that you wont just "fly apart" from a small aceleration, especially when you take lore with warp bubbles and whatnot into account. |

Why did you have to remind me of the poor Comet? Now I'm even more upset for Gallente ships, not sure why they seem to consistently get the cosmetic shaft. |

Because not every person is going to like every race's ship aesthetic? I'm rather fond of most Gallente ships. |

Right, so why not make sure that the greatest number of people are content with the aesthetic. In the case of the Comet, there was almost unanimous opposition to the changes made.
