I'm currently running in a Thorax (Gal Cruiser Lvl 4) and have 4M SP.
I'll be using medium blasters and a MWD. I've also got a cap recharger and cap battery thing.
I'm bored with level 2 missions - they're too easy now.
Do you get warp scrambled in lvl 3 missions?
Will my old Rax be good enough for lvl 3 - I could fly a Dominix (if I could afford it ). I would rather save the additional 4M ISK than buy a Brutix BC.
Any tips for a relative n00b

Like with Lvl 2 missions there is a big difficulty range between the easiest and the hardest lvl 3. The easier ones you¦ll be able to do in a rax. For the harder ones (Spy Stash, Angel Extravaganza, Silence the Informant, Duo of Death and the post RMR missions) bring a friend in a bc or bs. With ~5m SP I can do them all in a Brutix, but have to warp out several times in the harder missions. Generally it¦s always nice to have a fat tank in lvl 3 missions, be it hp or resists - preferable both. :D .............

Well I run level 3 missions in a Ferox quite easily. I can even do Tech Secrets L3, but with GREAT care. I only have 2.6 mil SP, much of that in learning.
I know I did a couple L3 missions in my Caracal, but there are a few I had to just my Ferox for. My tank on the Caracal couldn't handle the incoming damage. The Ferox on the other hand does quite fine for tanking (I use a passive shield tank setup, but for Tech Secrets I use an active tank).
I'm not sure about other races cruisers/battlecruisers. I have been scrambled in some L3 missions, so it does happen, just be careful. =)
I guess that isn't much of a tip. I think though, you'll have problems in some of the missions in a Thorax. But, as I haven't flown 1, I'm not 100% sure on that.

scan unfamiliar misisons, scout with a shuttle if needed, learn which rats scram and prioritise it
rax might not be enough

Iv recently just started doing lvl 3 after getting bored of lvl 2. I have an AF and a BC. I found that the easier lvl 3, (ie the ones with more frigs in) are much easier in the BC than the AF as frigs hurt other frigs. Where as the harder lvl 3 Extravaganser is easier in a AF, as the cruisers do much less damage to you than the frigs and there are a lot less frigs in the harder ones.
Gotta say thou, for the extra difficulty and time u spend on them, the better quality lvl 2s are not too far behind in rewards and general profit. But they do increase your balance doing the harder missions.
Im doing missions for the caldari navy and i use a Retribution and a Prophecy. i have ~5m SP.
