Is the current eve year, 107? Reading through some of the backstory it says the earth year was 23,341 when the eve gate collapsed iirc. And the EST (Earth Standard Time was 105). And since the game went live in May 03 are we now in the year 107 (23,343) now? Is a year in eve the same as in RL?
Just curious.

Doesn't it also say in some stories that it tokk centuaries before the people in EVE reached the point where they are today? I.e. all these stargates up, proper civilised planets, the wars between different factions etc. So I'm guessing no.

I was under the impression that once the eve gate collapsed, without contact with Earth, the colonies on this side of the gate began losing technology and were thrown into a dark age. Only after thousands of years was space flight rediscoverd and the empires began forming.

The current year is 108, as in 108 Earth years have passed since the Yulai Convention when everything was standardized. This is mentioned in some obscure part of the back story. Wish I could provide a link.

i wouldn't say that
the Caldari and Gallente fought a viscious war that accumulated with the Gallente utterly devasting Caldari Prime and forcing their Caldari enemies from their home system

Just a quick clarification:
Yulai - "home" system of Concord
Yoiul Convention - setting EST and foundation of Concord (and further 12 years until the Gallente - Caldari War is settled)
