Hi All,
Whilst floating aimlessly in space due lack of station facilities I asked in alliance chat whether or not outposts were still erected.
It was made clear to me that it boils down to Titan vs Outpost, which would you rather have?
To most the answer would be Titan, however i can't help but feel that outpost are an overlooked feature of the game.
Perhaps it is time that the outpost received some attention? To get the ball rolling on some ideas, here's mine.
Make the Outpost the Titans base of operations. If Titans could only dock at outposts then alliances would have to encourage the spread of them. Outposts could benefit from having a titan docked in the form of increased defence and or faclities, when the titan is absent, the facilities are reduced or absent. Perhaps when a titan is docked the Outpost can act as a jump bridge.
I am sure you get the picture by now.
So I guess the TLDR; version is.
What would you do to make Outposts more attractive to erect and maintain? |

Give outposts more options and lower the stupid costs for the highest level upgrades would be nice.
Although many would complain that outposts don't need to be buffed and that it would only speed up the placement of outposts in every system of NullSec. Lieutenant Turelus

I always liked outposts more. More people can deploy them than titans, and when it comes to some systems in null sec a titan doesn't deploy a lot of what an outpost can do. However, the fact that they look like giant space dicks does add points for me in their favor.

That's a double edged sword, in my opinion. It makes it more reliable in null, but at the same time takes away some of the fun of exploring it since the people who own you are just going to shoot you. |

I get your point, you would need a mechanism to make sure that they don't appear everywhere, perhaps the maintenance cost of the outpost would be exponential. Another isk sink at this level is a good thing, right?
edit: Perhaps the cost increases with the proximity of it to another outpost in the same region.. |

Yeah. With as much as you can make in null, it adds up pretty quickly. On my other toons, i just eat mine but that's just me. And as for a mechanism, i agree with this. While outposts can be a good idea in null, on the other side of that coin it could get out of hand and ruin the mysteque.

This could work. 1-2b if it's the next system over, getting slightly less the further away. Just throwing out random numbers with that, so don't get butt hurt at the numbers themselves. I think it would help out some of the players that want them, and keep them from sprouting up everywhere for those of us that like to explore the unknown wildernesses of space.
