Hi everybody,
im doing this Lv2 mission at the time and have major problems... I have a Thorax but my shield and armor is depleted in nearly 20 seconds. I never had any problem with any of the lv2 missions before. Whats up with this one? Anybody else is having trouble? And are the ones after part 3 even harder? I guess so...

You're struggling to do this mission in a Thorax?
Let me know which systems you pirate in, and I'll come along and wait around for you...

Edited by: Topodo on 06/01/2006 18:05:34 Hmm. Ignore Sam. That was a Blizzard response. All taunt and no help.
The key to beating these missilers is to do maximum damage to each one and take them down quickly. Load up your long range and medium range guns with ammo that makes their optimal range similar (about 18km?), keep the target at range and fire away.
As long as you can keep them at range, they won't start orbiting and your guns will hit more because they are flying straight at you.
Oh - and do NOT, I repeat, NOT!!! do Human Cattle 4 if you are having this much trouble with Human Cattle 3. Human Cattle 4 is a ship killer (warp scrambler that shoots missiles and 5 more missilers). Human Cattle 5 is a little easier than 4 because at least there, you can warp away.
I've been typing up some level 2 walkthroughs in my bio - feel free to check it out, along with my ship and skill build (290k). I finally beat Human Cattle 4 solo today in a Vexor, so I'm moving on to the lower end level 3 missions in my new Brutix :)

Hmm, thanks for the response. I did part 3 now. i guess i ask somebody from my corp for part 4 to help if its that hard. Is there any special reward for doing all 5 parts?

No special rewards, just a boatload of ISK and loyalty points.
And you can easily get Human Cattle again from any level 2 agent. I have 4 sitting in my journal right now.

Edited by: Sam Arran on 06/01/2006 19:23:28 Apologies if I caused offence with my first reply; it wasn't meant to be a taunt, merely a gently humorous comment.
As an attempt to be more constructive:
Part 4 is slightly more difficult, as Topodo has pointed out. I can offer no advice specific to 'Rax fitting, as I've never owned one, but if you can fit your boat to tank against explosive it would help.
There are no special rewards gained during part five (at least, I didn't get any decent drops), but the mission reward isn't bad and the Amarrian Navy tags can be sold for a decent amount. I think I made about 900K in total from Part 5.
Whatever you do, when you come to the last stage of Part 5 don't try and engage the huge number of Navy ships sitting just outside of aggro range, simply destroy the frig that's sitting next to you, and that's the end of the mission.
Here's a screenshot of this area:

You are shield boosting and armor Repairing?
What is most important is to prepare your ship for close range encounters or u won't hit the rats properly. I fitted autocannons and heavy missile launchers on my rupture for that.
I also took drones along but unfortunately with the latest drone nerf my small drones didn't really do damage.

Yes, but with the Enyo's shield and armour bonuses you really don't need to run them much.
I can tank a great deal of damage due to passive armour mods in the low slots, and I just tend to turn on the shield booster for a few seconds after I've thinned out the rat numbers a little.
It's not often I lose more than about 20% of armour, and I've never been down to structure. I solo Level II missions, 4/10 complexes and 0.2 belt rats all the time, and I very rarely even need to turn on the repper. It's more just employed as a useful way of avoiding repair bills.
Of course, this is entirely a PvE setup and would be next to useless for PvP.

Thanks for your help everyone :-)
My Thorax is fitted for close combat, but since the Red Moon Patch i cant hit most rats in close combat anymore, i dont know whats happend here. I have to use ammo that has a rangebonus of +20 - + 40 to hit them when arrpoaching, or else i dont hit. Even in perfect range i may hit 5% of the time. Motion Prediction is only at 3 yet. I use:
-- Weps -- 2 150 mm Dual Railguns 2 Heavy Ion Blaster I¦s 1 E 50 Prototype Vampire
-- MidSlot -- Fixed Paralell Link Capac. 10 MW Afb Stasis Web I
-- Low Slot -- 1 Small Armor Rep 1 Med Armor Rep 400 mm Steel Plates Crosslateral Gyrostabilyzer Type E altered SS
I have a Shieldrate of 1401, Armor of 2199 and Structure of 1800
Is that a bad outfit?

This setup is fine! Human Cattle is very hard for a lvl 2 in case you havn't figured it out yet. Part 3 should not be too much of a problem, part 4 on the other hand is a bit tougher. When you warp to the gate you may get a pause just be ready for the missle boats. There will be 5 missle boats and one 'wingman'. Target the wingman FIRST, this is very important because he is going to web you and you are going to be taking a lot of damage. Once the wing man is dead you can warp out if you have to, but the other missle boats aren't too hard, you just have to tank their damage.
I lost a 'Blasterax' in this part so I now carry short range and long range ammo. That is something I would suggest to you. Antimatter for most applications, then maybe lead or even iron for the 'wingman'.
Oh one other thing, the 'wingman' can repair himself so if you don't kill him fast you will lose your ride. |

Short range ammo only helps hitting harder. It doesn#t improve your turret tracking.
Light and medium drones rock this mission. If you don't call them back fast enough, the mission will rock you because of the Drone's Artificial Ignorance. (Grouping with another pilot helps here.)
Don't aggro all groups at once.

My tactic on mission 4 was to kill the missile Fighters first, otherwise I couldn't handle all of the missile hits. They go down pretty quickly, and once they are cleared, you should be able to tank the interceptor indefinitely.
The first time I tried this mission, I went after the interceptor first and got destroyed before I got his shields down.

jesus, just fit a platerax and take them out easily. the 5K of armor and the thermic kin and eplxosive hardeners will keep you alive while your railguns/blasters will blow up all the ships in a matter of moments.
oh and remember, once you enter the 3rd(?) lvl of the 5th mission, you're done, you dont need to attack all those geddons and apocs.

LMAO!
That setup sucks.
It mixes short range guns and long range.
On top of this it has a gyrostab (go and read what a gyrostab does Einstein).
You may want to fit something that increases resistances (hardners perhaps?)
WTF is that type E altered SS?
This truly is the blind leading the blind so far.

Deja is right I'm afraid, mixing those Dual 150mms and Heavy Ions is no good at all really. It is a bad outfit.
This is what I use on my rax for lvl 2 missions, including Human Cattle 3 of 5.
2x Heavy Ion Blaster 2x Heavy Electron Blaster Med Nos
Stasis Webifier 10 MW ABII Barton Cap Recharger
x2 Energised Adaptive Nano 400mm Nanofibre Plate Med Repper II Beam Paralax Tracking Progam
x5 Med Drones, a mix of Hammerheads and Infils
For all lvl 2 missions its Antimatter ammo all the way and thanks to the sheer firepower I use very little ammo. Most things are shredded within a few blasts.
However, for Human Cattle 4 of 5 I lose the blasters and use Dual 150mm Scouts. The reason for this is that I'm too cheap to buy a more efficient webifier and the 150mms give me the range I need to take out the Mercenary Frig that webs me. If I used a more effective webber this wouldn't be necessary.
The important thing to do on this step is to send your med drones after the other fighters there as they will take them out very quickly, thus reducing the damage your ship takes. The Mercenary webber is quite tough and sending your drones after him isn't nearly as productive as they can (and will) take out about 3 of the other ships long before they're done with the Merc Webber.

Hehe, yes, that Gyrostabilizer i forgot lol. I had fitted projectlie before and somehow didnt remebered to unfit that..well. Thanks for all the help, maybe i should have said before that i play this game for 3 months only, in fact only 2 months. So my skills are not that far to equip (insert name here)-II stuff or such things. I have to come out with the basic stuff yet.

When i did this set of missions (got it 3 times in a row=/)i used the following on my thorax: 2 150MM small Rails 3 250MM med Rails all named 1 cap booster 1 10MN Afterburner (Never used it for part 4, due to the intercepter) Energized nano plating 400MM armor plating 5 Medium Drones
I basically killed all the mobs besides the intercepter first as the Int takes to long to kill. I usually killed 1 or 2 then warped out and came back to finish off the rest.

Hehe, I've only been playing this game since the end of August so I'm not vastly more experienced than you by any stretch of the imagination. I'm sure your skills are up to the challenge, you just need to think about your set up.

The biggest problem with part 3 is that most likely you are warped in to close. The trick is, since this mission is not really in deadspace, to drop a bookmark the first time you warp to it. Then warp out again. Now you can warp even to it at 100km and take time to kill them off one by one. Even if the other ships have arrived. Long range rails are sufficient to kill them off. Fly away from them when you do, preferable towards your warp out point.
FYI, part 3 is the hardest, part 4 is np, keep an eye on the interceptor though, you may need some time to get him. First kill off all the others ships. You can use some light drones to help out. Make sure you let the drones free after the interceptor has locked you so it will not destroy the drones.
One final warning on part 5 in the last stage, only get the interceptor out and fly home. DonÆt even try to get any of the other ships. You will be vaporized within seconds. ;-)

I think the validity of this strategy depends entirely on your set-up. If you fly a Blasterax like I do then you want to warp in as close as possible and get into the thick of the action asap. If I was going to make a bookmark for part 3 it would only be so I could drop my rax right in the thick of the group when I warped in.

I disagree. I think coming to the missions cold, part 3 is easier and part 4 has a far greater capacity to take a player by surprise. When you know the strategy for part 4, which is just as you suggested - kill off the other ships first, its not such a bother.
Alternatively another way to do part 4 is to warp to the area and then warp out again. Wait for about 30 seconds to a minute, then warp back in again at say 30 or 40km rather than 15km. The merc frigates will have spawned at that point and you can then just snipe away at them quite happily.

Another final warning for part 5, watch it if you use drones in the first area of the deadspace complex. With drone AI buggy as it is at the moment, it only takes a couple of seconds for the drones to drag the other frigate groups in the compex on to your ship. This can make life.....awkward.

Yesterday I helped someone with 4/5 and 5/5. This is definitely lvl 3 niveau. The three things that bugged me the most -> 4/5 , the Kestrel Missile boats tank and deal damage like 16k+rats leading to a false idea of safety
5/5 , the Navy detective frigate tanks too much. Its tank equals one of the old 115k cruisers, except that its a frigate. [Too much means withstanding 5Tech2Assaultlaunchers +2BCS].
Generarly too many light missile using ships, virtually rendering these missions death traps for the few souls that used to do lvl 3/4s in their af/interceptors. Not to mention rookie players with their first frigate/destroyer/cruiser.

The Caladari Kestrels in lvl 3 of 5 certainly tank well, but the ones in step 4 get shredded very easily by my med drones.

Yes, that one is a toughy but he's hardly frightening in terms of firepower.

I do it in my Thorax this way:
3x250mm named Rail loaded with AM. 2x150mm named Rail - AM The 150mm's are for the small stuff that's close in especially the Assault Frig in 4/5
1xTracking comp 1xWebber 1xAB
1xArmour Rep 2xDamage Mod (Mag Stabs) 1xCap relay 1x400mm Nanofiber
5xHammerhead drones (also help a bit with the frigs :)
The 250mm Rails pop frigs that are 20km away in 1 volley, the ones that get close get torn up by the drones and 150mm rails.
The 250mm Rails also allow you to take out the missile launching stuff relatively early and quickly due to their range and damage thus saving your shields and Armour. You may have to swap a damage mod for a power diag system if you don't have enough power capacity to make the big rails fit.
