Ive got some mining drones they dont appear to repair after a graze from a rail or piece of space dust, should they or do I have to get them repaired in dock? It seems crap that expensive Miner II drones dont even repair thier shields

All drone's sheilds will completely regenerate once scooped to dronebay + launched again. I dont think mining drones have a sheild recharge rate. If you're running a drone ship for mining / combat, always have a remote rep small or larger in one of your hi's. Just dont rep the enemy

Repair drones can also repair thier mining and combat drone cousins. If you can't spare the space for a remote repair module but can spare a 5 or 10 unit space for another drone in the drone bay... the repair drones can be a nice option.

IF it wasn't for the recent improvments to drones I would still be harping about this. I personaly feel that drones should repair (slowly) while docked with your ship. No skill needed except maybe one that boosts how long this takes.
IF this was done, it would be of a great benefit to drone hives... Problem though, is drone builders would suffer a loss in income from fewer drones being lost over time to random accidents.
But generaly I have never lost a drone because I didn't repair it, but usualy just because I was too lasy, or stupid, or slow, or the drones too bugged to return to my ship before going pop. So in my case, the drone manufacturers would still be getting my occasional ISK for thier trouble. But that certainly isn't everyone. A domi for example, able to fly three waves of drones would be easily able to cycle thier drones so that 2 batches are repairing while one is in use, and barring stupid accidents, lag, etc as mentioned above, would have little reason to ever lose a single drone. This would mean also a nearly endless supply of the things in general. and enemies of all types would be hard pressed to even bother dealing withthe drones... something thats already nearly pointless, but would be evenmore so...
So I don't know how I stand on the issue, my greedy drone using self says YEAH repair in the ship for free! but the adult in me who cares about game balance is just kinda frowning and looking unconvinced.
