I know sentry guns and refinerys are ont he way i have soem idea for several other items that could make a nice little moble base.
1. Shipyard- Used to build ships maby only up to crusers, But have advanced ones that could do BattleShips.
2. Factorys- Item construction slower then stations but 20-50%
3. Large contaners- i mean huge ones 50k units ofcorse need to be constructed on location maby take 2-3 trips to bring all its parts to construct.
4. Docking platform- Maby work with the contaner and shipyard. Used to dock and change equipment in space may need shipyard near by to do it. Could also controle the refining platform if you build one near it.
5. Corp Beacon- a beacon that only your corp members can see and use to warp to it.
Well thoes are my ideas all of these items would be destroyable, but would make for a great tempory base especaly if your getting ready to build a station, also a great deapspace mining outpost.

Doesnt anyone els want items like this to beable to setup a small base 10 jumps from a station for your corp to use for mining and what not?

The all sound like Valid Ideas!
Of course balancing would need to take place, but I belive more PLAYER made enties need to make it in game QUICK...

These are some great ideas to start off some basic player built structures in space. Sounds like corporations should be able to afford those types of structures before they try to dive into making space stations.
and if these structures are deployable, why not be able to pack them up and move them to a new location when you are done? you could have mobile base im sure would be useful in corp wars.

nice ideas
here some addons: a build module (right click on it to "reload" it with a building plan. so we could select what to build) when activated it builds the platform 2500m in front of the ship. it uses minerals of the ships cargo to build (so only indus could build perhaps battleships or cruisers small platforms) and it uses minerals AND trade goods to build !!! like construction blocks, electronical parts, silicon (nearly all could be used) ---------------------------------- some of my ideas: Very Long Balancing Suggestion !!! and My Ideas for EVE |

exactly it would be removeable when done and it would be a nice step inbetween corps now and them gettign stations.
only problem i cans ee is the listing of players in space on the map that would attract pirates.

1. having something like a basic station module that is built at a full station with minerals and trade goods (construction blocks etc. etc.) and has a certain amount of different types of slots e.g. expansion slots, storage slots, docking slots, and factory slots
2. to assemble space station would need to get a indy (station module would be like 2000-5000 m3 of cargo) then when at desired spot right click module and click deploy and the module would be there...
3. in order to use station would need to get modules for the slots on on the station module
4. storage modules would count towards maximum storage capacity for station for hangars
5. stations would consume 1 unit of oxygen per minute to operate unless station has a life support module that creates a certain amount of oxygen so the larget the station the more or more advanced life suppurt module, if station runs out of oxygen modules and eventually the whole station would stop working.
6. factory modules would provide a certain amount of factory slots per module.
7. deployable weapon plaforms that have to be tied to a nearby space station in order to work and also would have high medium and low slots got guns shield hardeners andweapon or armor upgrades (should do this with full space stations too)
8. in order to dissasemble space station would have to deactivate ALL modules and then load into cargo until main module is all that's left then click on scoop to cargo bay (make sure nothing is in any modules or you can't detatch them)
That's all i can remember of thinking of about mobile space stations...   |

I had made a similarly related comment to mass-mining containers in this thread, perhaps you would like to merge it with your ideas.
Secure containers suggestion...
I still like your ideas there also, but perhaps theres enough ideas here to feed the imagination of those devs ;)
