I'm having some difficulty finding omber in the Minmatar neighborhood. Even in 0.5 and 0.6 space, I'm finding vast fields of plagio and *occasionally* their will be a sprinkling of omber in them. More often than not, it won't be there though.
Are there systems with vast fields of omber? Or is this as good as it gets?

Omber or Kernite (Amarr space) spawns in 0.7 space and lower because it's some what safer to mine in 0.5 space and up and Isogen sells well it is mined out faster. But you will never see more then 10-20% (my observations) of Omber or Kernite in 0.5 or higher.

When you deplete an asteroid, will it respawn in that same *belt*, or will it appear anywhere in the system?

The asteroid belts are replenished from time to time (it was downtime a long time ago, i've heard rumors that it is nowadays done on a constant basis). Still existing roids will be filled. If a roid is popped, the server just throws a die to determine which kind of roid will spawn. Thats the reason why in most deep-space regions it is prohibited to pop high-level roids, there is a good chance that they will come back as veldspar :)

That probably explains why I'm having such trouble finding more than a couple of pieces of omber. They get mined until they come back as plagio, veld, etc. ....doesn't sound like a good system since it degenerates into the least valued material.

omber spawns after DT on Tuesday and Thurdsay, so by monday there is never any left in empire space. It's been mined since the previous thursday, you're lukcy if you find any on friday night even.
