Hi there. I used to play about a year ago but never really got into the game and stayed fairly isolated while playing.
Anyways a year later I have decided to have another look at the game and have very little clue of what I'm doing / server situations.
I am willing to start from scratch again mind.
So what's the empire populations like? (hate being on the same side as everyone else)
Any advice? etc

Supposedly 50% of all eve players is caldari.. so..

My advice to the OP is to get into a player-corp as quickly as possible. You can check the recruitment chat channel, but beware, some corps use new players as virtual slaves to fatten their own pockets. Consider (if they're still recruiting) Eve University. Also google eve recruitment out of game; this might yield something fun.
In any event, the way to learn EVE and all it can be is to become a productive member of a well-run player corp. Otherwise, you'll get just as disenchanted as you were a year ago.

See the OP can. Jealous many are, against Caldarians.
Caldari = Sexy and elegant.
Gallente = Lively and sensual.
Minmatar = Sultry and ruggard.
Amarr = Just coy.

Caldari has less 'baggage' than the other races.
They're not zealot slave traders, liberal woosies or scummy idiots.
They are clean, intelligent and like to shoot. Win, win, win.

Join a corp and make your charecter either caldari or gilent.
Also when you are learning skills try to specialise in 1 races ships/wepons.
Also its best for roleplay reasons to specialise in your own races ships/wepons.

I think I'll stick with my gallante character then, I do have a cruiser and a whole load of skills already trained after all.
Any suggestions on how to load up my Thorax for battle / which drones to use?

The caldari and amarr are the "power" races, the gallente and the minmataur are the "emotional" races.
