Or perhaps I should say, happened to my incredible glee tonight.
So, I am flying one of my alts around empire in a viator dropping some stuff off at a few stations to put up on the market.
I go through Eram down in Metropolis to put some stuff up, and I notice that local is way high, like of 50+, which for that system seemed a lot more than normal. Being curious, I start taking a look, and about 75% of the names are guys like gfdsaj, zxcvbn, ghjklp, dfghjk, etc.
You know what I'm talking about.
So, having seen this for about the 1000th time, I decide to check things out. Warping into a couple of the belts, I see the typical 2 or 3 retrievers along with a mammoth hauler. No surprises, except that each retriever has a wasp circling.
Hmmm, thinking to myself, with the new can flagging, I wonder.........might the drones go auto agro if I am flagged?
So, I drop off my stuff, fit some nanos and prepare for some potential fun. I grab a shuttle and go down the road to get a blastrax fitted up. This shopping takes a bit of time, but clearly gfdsaj and his dozen or so buddies aren't going anywhere till downtime. I get the thorax positioned in station, all the while hoping and praying that these guys will actually go agro on me.
I jumped back into the viator and warped into a belt, and the mammoth quickly popped the can, thinking me an ore thief. On to the next belt. Empty. Next belt. Ahh, 4 retrievers and a mammoth. Now we got something. I begin my approach to the closest ore can. Closing now. 5K. Its still there.
Suddenly, all 4 retrievers start locking me up. I'm in a viator, so they aren't gonna scramble me, and even if they can I can AB away fast. My resistances to kinetic are good, so danger is small. No problem I think.
I hit the can. Grab some ore. I begin to move away. No attack. Nothing.
Things are laggy, so I begin to orbit at 2500 meters, and then suddenly smash, the first wasp goes agro, then the next and the next and finally all four are hitting me. My shields start dropping, so I move to warp out and go get my blasterrax and come back and toast these guys now that they are agro on me. At this point I am thrilled to death -- thinking that I am gonna chalk up at least one dead isk pharmer.
All of this was happening within about a 20 second period of time.
Just as I am about to hit warp. My overview fills up with concord ships. The screen began to light up with flashes and colors. I'm dead, I think to myself, trying to process what was happening.
And then, the most wonderful thing in EVE happened: One after the other the cops wtfstompszorbbqed these guys in about 3 seconds flat. It was a concordokkening like no other. I counted 24 concord ships.
Suddenly the belt was full of floating pods and cans. I blinked my eyes a couple of times and realized that "They're dead...they're all dead"...mauhhaahhaaaahaa.
So while I would have loved to come back and killed them myself, nothing, nothing, nothing could top the sheer joy of watching the cops blow the you-know-what out of these guys....if only I could have seen their faces on the other side of the screen when it was happening.
Had to share the joy.

Now CCP, whether they want to lose the income or not, have to deal with that batch of macroers.

Probably because the hauler was from a different corp than the miners. So he would've been flagged to the hauler, but not to the barges.

Although I like the result, I still don't understand what happend. I mean you stole ore, the drones of the retrievers automatically attacked you, because you were flagged and then concorde owned the retrievers ? Sounds like a bug, since you were flagged and the retrievers were allowed to attack you.

I had something like this happen to me.
Two barges and 1 hauler. I got a hauler flagged, killed the hauler. Both barges had drones out. I was flagged to ONE of the barges, eventually this barge attacked me with drones. I quickly mopped him up, but then the other barges engages me, and CONCORD comes to the rescue.
Another time I was in a 0.5 system, there was over 40 barges. They had 1 cruiser that TRIED to kill the NPC's, but eventually all of the barges ended up infront of one station. I sent them all gang invites and two of the barge pilots bit.
I killed two barges infront of the station, next thing I know the cruiser undocks and locks me, and then attacks me.
Well, the sentry guns had a good healthy helping of Vexor.

there is no face behind the screen when you are dealing with macro-miners... thats the big roblem about it

this could lead to an interesting social Fad
u just take a frig out and go steal a bit of summat and then let the macroers get wiped out at the cost of a 20k slasher, do this everyday bout 30mins after downtime and they will get seriously pee'd by weeeks end

1. Sorry no screenies - it all happened so quickly and unexpectedly. Wish I hap frapsed it. Would have been fantastic.
2. Don't know what the cause was. I am betting it is because I was flagged only to the one guy who's can it was I took the ore from, yet the whole gang went agro. I don't know if it was auto agro either cause it took a little while and I wonder if the operator saw me red on one screen and went agro with the whole mining gang.
3. Didn't petition the wasp use, but rest assured these guys read the forums -- or at least are getting a translation -- because every one of them in those belts and others were wasp-only users.
3. I would encourage others to annoy, abuse, attack, and in any other way possible disrupt the illegal and exploitive isk-pharming these face-plant name-spelled jerks are doing 23/7 to ruin what is otherwise a great game. |

Drones count as separate entities to the ship that launched them. If the drones are already released, I believe they don't get the flag but if you launch them while flag, they inherit the flag? They also shouldn't auto-attack so the pilot has to have manually attacked you, I think.
Not sure about any of this but it would make sense.

the flagging does NOT work for corpmates in NPC corps. hence, if he stole from the hauler, and those miners weren't ganged, he would be aggressed to the hauler and no-one else

They probably weren't in a gang.
Also, the mammoth most likely dropped the can, so only the mammoth was able to fire back - which it couldnt.
Hence, the retrievers shot at someone without having the kill right to do it......
At least, that's how i think it works.

You didn't loot there drop cans, a few mil in strips would have been in them, and petition as the wasps were an exploit that has been widely circulated.

I didn't get the loot cans because their mammoth pilot was right there and he plucked them before I was able to get close enough.
But yes, a few of those strip 1's would have been a nice bonus. |

or maybe due wasp are an exploit, CCP added their use as concord punishment, they can't help in 0.0 but well can kick ass in empire if someone try to be more clever than devs ^_^

It worked because the miners were in an NPC corp. NPC corp gangs are not affected by flagging, just the individual, to prevent horrid abuse of NPC corps. If they were treated as the same, one ore thief would aggro over 20,000 players at a time for 15 minutes every time they stole something. NPC corp thieves would never be flagged. Thats why they're different.
So since, gang or not, the can belonged to the hauler, the barges got pwned. The hauler could have attacked but that's it.
If I convert my Angelfire account to a database for macrominer names and known locations so we can all get deviously matching addressbooks, would you guys be game?
And CCP, I'd send you the link ;).
