By selling PLEX you drive price down helping new players (old players don't care much if PLEX costs 300mil or 500mil) and game as a whole.
By selling promopacks you boost CCP's "greed is good" attitude and send them message that pay-to-win is ok (new genolution implants giving significant advantage and available at the moment only for real money is a definition of pay-to-win). |

right, i wouldn't mind buying this pack, as long as any ingame items contained in this pack can also e acquired purely ingame, without investing real $ |

It looks like the stuff I got so far from the collectors ed my wife bought me can be sold via contract at the very least. So there is nothing preventing you from buying the Genolution implants just like with plex. The rest of it hardly seems pay to win as the destroyer is an egg shell armed with a hammer. (Not a sledge hammer just a hammer.) The BPC is for a BC everyone got any way and is readily available on the market.
Former forum cheerleader CCP, now just a hopeful small portion of the community. |

Right. So why point this out? I want people who WOULD buy PLEX for ISK to get the promo pack to bring down gen 3 & 4 implant prices so I can fit out 3 more clones. I want to do that for less ISK so I'm telling people about this way to make more ISK.

I agree. I am planning on getting all 8 sleeves, but decided against dropping 12B ISK on a full set when they came out since CCP has mentioned that they are planning on eventually releasing them via other means. The prices since the promo pack have already fallen, and almost none have sold over 1B since then with most of the Jita buy order prices closer to 700m.
I wouldn't be surprised if implants 3 and 4 are eventually released as a gift as well. I noticed that I have more implant 1 and 2 than accounts. Were they given as Christmas and 10 year gifts or did they appear mysteriously by other means?
You should probably sell the preorder bonus items now if you are buying the promo set for ISK. I do agree with the initial statement though and think that the CE is a great deal if you normally buy PLEX for ISK, and a mediocre deal if not. I'm sure the Golden Pod will sell for a decent amount of ISK as well. If you can get 3-4 PLEX worth of ISK from the in game goods the challenge of eBaying the physical items for $80 (minus any items you would like to keep) should be possible.
I personally would have paid about $100 for the three items that I am interested in (book, CD and USB hub) and don't mind spending the extra $50 for a bunch of random stuff. The problem is that very few people are buying this set for every item (especially with the non-Eve boardgame, new account key and DUST codes) and are having a hard time justifying spending $150 for what they want. As ridiculous as it sounds people are making such a big deal about these items I almost believe that the set would sell better at the same price without them included and certainly if the price would be shaved by a mere $20 or so. I believe that all the individual components of the CE will be worth $150, although most people will not want all of the components, so selling off or sharing a CE might be a smart move. |
