Edited by: Butch Coolidge on 09/01/2006 15:36:12 Hi,
I always have my 'people and places' open with my bookmarks sorted after jumps, for easy access. I have A LOT of bookmarks and I was never aware (before now) how much lag this creates. It makes jumping and setting an autopilot route much slower, probably because it has to sort the bookmarks and contact the server to do this.
So my plea to you is this: Close the 'People and Places' window and use the menu for bookmark access and maybe we can cut down on the server lookups and decrease lag.

I'm sorry if this is common knowledge. I just wanted to bring it up so that the few who doesn't know can try it out.

i never have ppl and places open except when i am searching for something, or renaming/dropping/deleting a bookmark. and even then, i have it set to blocked tab everytime it opens up so it doesn't have anything to load (i never blocked anyone)

Edited by: Quanteeri on 09/01/2006 16:17:18 I leave my people and places docked with my chat channels, and it causes very little lag. This because I've learned a few things that help reduce my lag related to it.
1) Keep all BM's in Folders. I have 2 folders, one for common destination systems (always open) and the other for instas (always closed). Common destination systems are edited occasionally due to usefulness. This also cuts down on confusion when accessing temporary BMs to things like cans, etc., because the new BM wont be in a folder. I usually prefix my common destination BMs with a "+" so I can easily sort them in case I have to delete my Eve cache folders. This also helps cut down in clutter and load time of right clicking in space.
2) Keep unused regional BM's in a container in you main office. Ex. If you live down South, but have northern BM sets, but rarely actually go north, take the BM's out of your active rotation.
3) Make sure your Buddy and Agent lists are minimized in their respective areas unless actively being used.
CCP has even knows it. They've added the word BIGSHOT to the URL of my avatar. |
