Hi, I received an e-mail from [email protected], regarding reseting my account password. I received this massage on Jan 7, one day before i manualy reset my password myself. However, the e-mail came with an attachement, a "03.jpg" file (size is 0.06Mb). Every time I see an attachement sent to me, I get very paranoid due to viruses serculating. Plus, there is a new virus that can atack you simply via images. So my question is, is this e-mail legitimate? Did everybody else get the same thing?
forgive me for any bad spellings |

Edited by: Sardau Kar on 09/01/2006 20:30:27 The webpage recognizes my new account name(yeah, renamed as well...) and my email,so it sends me a password every time I reset it manually(I couldnt before). But that same account and pass dont do squat when trying to log both in game and webpage...
Oh and my petitions in my questions all show as waiting, thus unanswered, which only adds to the whole mystery, this is no longer funny or curious http://www.ebaumsworld.com/flash/supersonik.html |

If you're paranoid, check the mail headers. From: addresses are misleading, anyone can easily use whatever From: they want to. Thus is the idiocy of the mail protocol. You can generally see where the mail originated and what it went through to get to you though - that's harder to mess with. If you see 'ccp.cc' or something similar, you're probably safe.
My password change/confirmation/whatnot e-mails did, however, come with 02.jpg and 03.jpg respectively. Both were pictures of an EVE logo. One had a bunch of ships, the other hand what looked like a garbage heap, otherwise known as a Minmatar vessel. Both were embedded in their respective e-mails. I've a strange feeling they're supposed to be there.
At the least, I've not yet been hacked, but that could be because every last ISK I've had recently has gone into a shiny new battlecruiser.

It depends on your mail client. The image is imbedded in the email, but some clients or web based email will pull the image out as an attachment.
Considering that it is simply an image file, and totally unneeded to get the message, safely ignore/don't open it.
That said, Plain text emails are much more acceptable. Perhaps CCP should use those in the future.
