Ive been looking about for information on covops and force recons trying to establish a good plan for my cyno scout alt.
I don't plan on using covert cyno's.
Is it better to go cheetah for the speed or branch into a falcon for ECM. I am unsure if jamming someone allows you to recloak
E.g I warp to bookmark and contact friends to see if they want cyno lit. Someone warps and gets within 2k range. I jam and head out to 5k range and activate cloak. Will this work?
Survivability wise will ECM shut down 1-2 opponents while backup comes in with my cyno lit?
Is it worth the cross train? |

Quote:Generating a cynosural field is a highly taxing operation. In addition to requiring a certain amount of liquid ozone to create the field, all the ships resources must then be concentrated on maintaining the field. This is at the expense of weapons, navigation, and defensive systems, all of which are disabled while the field is active. You're a sitting duck for 10 (5) minutes, thus most people use rookie ships for cynos. |

Can i activate jammers?
I'm looking for something that can hot drop? A capital and have a good chance of jamming/ tanking/ disabling a small gang so the cap doesn't get randomly dropped in
That can also fulfill a recon role. Falcon alts are useful for multiboxing I hear. |

Get Cyno 5 for the Blops Cyno. Trust me friend, if you have a Recon alt that's hot dropping people you're eventually going to want the option.
If you are certain this alt is a pure cyno alt I would remap Int/Mem immediately, train Cybernetics 3 and put in +4's for Int/Mem, then the prereqs for Recons:
-Electronics Upgrades 5 -Target Management 5 -Long Range Targeting 5 -Signal Analysis 5 -Cloaking 4 (Covops cloak. Could argue for training Cloaking 5 since this is a dedicated cyno tackle recon alt so the lock delay will be good for its exact purpose, but it depends on your patience)
I would train the various fitting, nav, and tanking skills to 4. I would train Cyno 5 as I said above. Train EWAR skills if you went with a Falcon. Train Astrometrics 4 and all probing supports to 3 at least so you can probe decently. Train all rigging skills to 3 just to be safe and because that's like a day. If you want to also be a Cyno HIC for tackling supers you need:
-Science 5 -Graviton Physics 4 for T1 Infinipoint, GP 5 for T2 for more range. -Propulsion Jamming 5
Then remap Per/Will, train racial frigate and Cruiser 5, train Covops 4, Recon 5, HIC 5. You can now light noobship Cynos, bomber covert cynos/tackle cynos, and recon Cynos.
For capital/supercapital hotdrops I would tackle in a bomber and light the cyno, because its very likely the cyno will die in the 10 minutes it is stuck. Fit scram, tank, cyno on your bomber. Scram target, commence own.
For a Recon, usually you want a tackle Rapier or a tackle Arazu to hold the target down if you're going to tackle in a Recon. Rapiers can run two webs and a RF Point to hold the target under a 90% speed redux at point range, or you can use a faction scram on an Arazu to turn off the enemies MWD with a RF point as backup in case they slowboat out of scram range. Both of these tank heavier than Falcons. You mitigate damage by being far away from the target rather than trying to jam.
If you really want a Falcon alt, then train the EWAR support skills before remapping, then train your tackle/cyno recon to light cynos, then just slap Caldari Cruiser 5 in there and suddenly you have a Cyno alt and a Falcon alt. You could even take the logistics skills to 4 and make this a Logistics alt as well since the Recon prereqs overlap with the Logistics skill prereqs.
Hope that helps. I skipped writing out details on the support skills to pick and stuck to the essentials because from the sound of it you are experienced enough to figure out which support skills are key on your own. |
