Hi,
I'm looking at getting into PI to generate some semi-passive income. I've done PI before in a wormhole to make fuel (before the fuel block changes) and I found it a pretty awful experience. I think this was mostly because I did it really badly. To make enough fuel I had to move stuff around 3 times a day. As you can imagine after a week I pulled out my assets because it was a massive chore.
Now I am looking at it again and doing a bit of research to make sure I do it right this time and a trend I see around the place is people making a product at a factory planet. How does this work? Say if I want to make robotics, do I harvest the 4 t1 components on 4 separate planets, turn them into their t2 counterparts at the same planet and then hall off to a super factory planet and dump them all the t2s there to make mechanical parts, consumer electronics and finally robotics?
Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I don't know an awful lot about how the system works.

Of course it is a lot more efficient to extract P1 and then move it to a factory planet but it is going to be a lot more effort. |

I was running Robotics and P4 factories last year, they were great (hisec) way to make plex for the month but man, the hauling, every day or atleast every other day i had to move fresh batch of materials there to get processed. In the end i just closed shop and moved into extracting planets in low with 2-3 day cycles and bimonthly hauling.
More effort = more isk, you decide. |

What was the difference in profit? Percentage wise? You just extracted t1 and then took them to factory every couple of weeks to make a huge batch? |

I do this with 5 toons, all in Low sec. Pick up every 2 or 3 days.
It just depends on how much time you want to put into it.
But yes, it is very efficient to make only P1 on extraction planets, then up-convert it all on Factory planets. |
