Is sniping entirely dead now?
Boosting Scorps are *worthless* (is there even a point to Remote Sensor Boosters or Tracking Links anymore?). My solo setup still 'works' -- but it's marginal at best, especially given the boosted hp of all targets.
Anybody having any luck with sniping?
(For the record: I couldn't care less what anyone thinks of sniping. This is a technology and techniques post, not a moral debate. And yeah, I know this is old news, but I hadn't tried sniping since RMR until just now ) In short: Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it.

Oh, I'm aware of that Haven't seen any for sale
And that doesn't help *that* much. Considering all the nerfs it has to go up against In short: Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it.

Little insane, seeing as how I can't even boost Berak anywhere near 150.

Edited by: Kage Getsu on 10/01/2006 00:04:53 A corpmate and I managed to sneak up on a sniper who was popping people outside sentry range in some lowsec. We had to run when it turned out he had help though :*(
Edit: He was in a Tempest, if that helps at all

Well, we don't have a problem popping indies and frigs, I'd quit EVE if we did...
but with the changes, even cruisers have time to get away from us now, it's ridiculous.

If it's any consolation, I seem to have more targets in belt piracy than I used to. People are a bit more brave now that they can survive a ganker long enough for their WCS to save them.
Of course, if they get hit by a BB with 3 scrams, they're still screwed.....
Belt piracy is more fun anyway. ------------------------------------ Join Channel MacroIntel! |

with new tankking buffs, gangink on gates with 4+ crew and tankking sentrys is more viable.

Awww, thanks, but I wasn't asking for your view on "what should I do in my EVE career?"
Why's sniping get such a bum-rap anyhow? It's no different then close-range camping except you don't have to wait 15 minutes between kills. In short: Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it.

And here I was thinking that it was a pretty bad way of making money, even for a pirate.
Sentry tanking is more lucrative *and* more exciting, no? ------------------------------------------- Sometimes, I wake up but keep on dreaming. |

Exciting yes.
Lucrative... not really since you have to wait 15 minutes between each target...

You don't have to wait....
Make a approach point a few hundred k from gate, and a warp in point on top of gate. Use scanner, when you see a target warp in... this way you can hunt while flagged all day.
btw, I miss using a scorp with 7 remote sensors, used to let me lock and scramble frigs going to warp . The remote sensor booster is now a worthless module that may as well not be in game.
There are two ways of thinking here..
1. CCP nerfed them by mistake 2. CCP nerfed fast lock sniping on purpose
I'd love to know which, tbh I think no1 as the changes happened with all the other stacking changes including the dampener mistake, it's pretty embarassing for CCP if true . I don't think they will ever work again, it would mean CCP admitting this.
Whatever happened here I don't care much as I don't snipe, but it was nice to have the possibility of a boost.

I am used to running most gatecamps with a nanoed out apoc with MWD. Superfast warp speed and the MWD to escape if need be (over 2000m/s).
I would have to say, RMR HP bonuses has saved my ass. I was warping to a gate, and noticed I landed upon a pile of campers. Putting on the usual MWD to outrun em, I was webbed like mad by frigs, and I assume scramed. With mwd, I was plodding my way to gate at roughly 200m/s (insted of 2000m/s+), and decided to outtank the lot of em. I got halfway into structure before I hit the gate, safe in the knowlege that my advesorys cannot follow me since they hit the aggression timer.
It was only on the other side of the gate that I remember that Nano's lower structure. I had rougly 1.5k struct, teaching me the lesson that there is a counter to pretty much every blocade runners tactics. All in all, even though I had something like 8k armour (hull upgrades 5 4tw), I would have died if I made this run pre rmr.
So Gatecamping has gotten harder, and now requires more brain power. The best camper I have ever seen was a solo guy using smartbombs to instablast everyone before they even leave warp, but the best group campers have webbers among them. --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |

i still kill frigs from 180km out with tachyon2 easy and you can get good hits from 80km out with tachyon2 with multifrequency
