Hrm if it uses the drone bay (since I see no other stats to suggest otherwise) then yeah it sucks. You can carry either 16 Fighters or 32 Frigates in the Chimera. But not both. I was hoping it might actually be usefull.
Ah well. Boo!

1000 DPS is NOT any kind of typical gank BS set-up. Please post your ship and set-up to prove me wrong.
also, I chose not to warp out as it's only fight club and destruction testing was more important to me than anti-fighter tactics at the time.
having said that, it was the day when SiSi decided no-one would get any cap recharge so i couldn't run any shield booster. but still, those fighters went through 11K shields (70-80% resists)+ armour + hull in stupid time.

My Arby Siege & T2 Ballistic Fitted raven churns out approx 750dps... not that far from the 1000dps the carrier projects.
even my cerberus can put out 300dps+
Damage is not the carriers strong point :)

Originally by: Koori OK. Now. There are two opposing statements about carrier damage output. Some people says that it is not that great, other says it pwns BSs in 10 seconds.
Lets say I have carrier lvl 3 (8 fighters) and Fighters lvl 3 (+60% dmg output).
How much damage will my Fighters do? Is it really true that I'll be able to kill BS in 5-15 seconds?
In this case your drones will have a combined 1280 DPS (close to that of some gank fit BS with the new stacking changes). These drones will very effectively take out battleships on their own. Imagine the help if they are assigned to kill the fleet primary as well.
As for using a carrier in the front lines, it does not have the greatest lock time (worse than BS if i remember right). This makes it even more advantages that the fighters be assigned to some other fast locking ship and the carrier no being at the actual battlesite.
As for the survivability of a carrier, much more than 3 or 4 BS on a small one and the carrier may not survive. Yes it can dish out decent concentrated damage, but the best fit I could make on a Minmatar one could tank about 2500 DPS for three minutes before it was starting to get low on cap.

Thanks for answer.
I'm not taking part in big fleet battles atm. I'm more interested in small fleets and guerilla ops. Now I imagine two interceptors attacking my enemies with power exceeding 2 inties + BS. That is great. In every way.
Every day I find more reasons to put all those months of training to become Carrier pilot. - ------------------------------------------- Helios enterprises is recruiting. 0% tax, 100% fun. |
