Hi all,
I remember reading somewhere on these forums before (is there a search feature?) that smartbombs in empire space are risky, as they will hit dangerous things like sentry guns, gates, stations etc if you're too close.
Can anyone confirm or deny this, and is there a definitive list of what will get you omgwtfpwned by Concord if you activate an SB in empire space? Specifically, is it safe to do it in a belt when ratting?

The only time I'd say you could use a SB in empire is while in a belt. Even then, though, you have to worry about people warping in on top of you and getting blown up (I've experienced this before in a frigate). Concord doesn't take "He came up behind me!" as a reasonable excuse.

If the smart bomb hits a secure container in the belt in high sec system you will get Concord response so it is risky. Also if there is a cloaked ship you are unaware of nearby and gets hit by your smart bombs...

Smartbombs hit EVERYTHING within its radius with no exeption.
Thus if there is anything within that radius that would for example bring down concord on you then it will and you will loose your ship, if at a gate you will get hit by gate guns...
If you know what you are doing then smartbombs are very usefull but they are risky.
A while back I spotted a very brave and probably not very long lived raven in Rens at one of the gates, he was using smartbombs to take out NPC's.
I say not very long lived as once a ganker spots him he will do his best to get into the smartbombs range when it goes off so that concord will come down on the raven and blast it to pieces leaving lots of nice loot for the ganker to collect.
Only ever use smartbombs if you know what you are doing, this however does not meen there are no reasons for using them in highsec... they are after all brilliant little things :)
